I now sleep on my side with a hot water bottle draped across my stomach in the hopes of recreating some human contact
It’s a different kind of hurt now. It grew dull, but always throbbing, always a noise in the background, persistent. Always present.
The frustration, I mean. It’s a lump in the throat, a silent rage in the pit of the stomach, a slight jerk of the knuckles in search for something to hit. Oh god, just something to connect these knuckles into even though I am never the fighty type. Maybe a face of one the everyday liars on the tv every night. For now its only the pillow, the wall.
For now, I sit in silent rage. As I write another news of another country starting to get rid of their masks. Another low count for others, while we break our record of all-time high.
I sit in silent rage. And watch what our backs have become. More hands dipped in dirt for only a few coins. More tightened pockets. Even more cardboards in the street from people who have never experienced to beg
I sit in silent rage, as another one I know sends me a message that they’re sick now. To be careful, don’t go out, wash your hands immediately, I hope I’ll be fine, we can’t find a hospital anymore, it’s been days, what if I can’t hold it out?
I sit in rage. And tomorrow comes without reassurance, with incompetence, with mediocrity, with more empty words, with another thousand lies.
