Uncertainty principle - Why do we still pay fines then. Quantum mechanics
I’m gonna be a bit INTP and write about this quantum mechanics principle I found very interesting.
This principle says you can’t determine two properties (A and B) at the same time.
So, according to this, police can’t know my exact location (A) and velocity (B) in a certain moment. Well, police can still detect it because that principle doesn’t have importance regarding radars. In fact, they can detect velocity with a precision of 0.5 m/s. Why it doesn’t matter? Because of this equation:
ΔR . ΔP ≥ h / 4π
ΔR is the variability of location detected by the radar, which is 1 meter. Aka: a radar can detect where I am with a precision of one meter more or one meter less than the one given and in any direction.
P is the multiplication of mass (in this case the car, 1 tn=1000kg) and the velocity. So ΔP = 1000kg . ΔV (v=velocity)
Therefore, if i want to calculate ΔV:
ΔV= h / 4π . 1000kg. 1m
h (Plank’s constant) is 6.62x10^-34 (freakin small number) So ΔV=0.52x10^-31 m/s.
For the ΔV to matter it should be MUCH higher. That number represents the limit so if i had to rest my actual velocity minus this number 0.52x10^-31 m/s which is almost 0 the result would practically be the same as my actual velocity. So no matter the limit of the equation, it can’t save me from the police knowing my velocity.
Although it can’t help you for breaking the law it does have an importance on quantum level. And this is much more interesting. It’s impossible to know the exact location and moment of an electron at the same time because of the limit. But you can know the velocity and location independently. Now the laws of nature are taking place.

Part of the reason I think ATLA is so popular is the smattering of philosophical concepts that tie into science
Take what I previously said about the bible being a metaphor for the periodic table, consider the story of Adam and Eve being the formation of the Hydrogen Atom after a "choice" was made
"Don't make any noise" "You're making noise" "Shhhhhh"
These lines are a direct quote from the show, when Sokka, Katara, and Aang are inside the Air temple at which he was born where they first meet Momo while finding the statues of the former Avatars from Aangs past lives
It is a metaphor (whether they realise it or not) for the double slit experiment demonstrating choice hence "Et voilà, reincarnation" after introducing a silent chaotic factor they were not aware of (Momo)
Good (Katara), bad (Sokka) to act (Aang), to do nothing (Momo)
There are many other examples of this pattern of metaphor
Take the Sun Tzu quote:

Although the above is more of an example of the structure of the atom itself; protons, neutrons, electrons, and the space in between them
It is literally the Chaucerfication of scientific theory for the masses, pun intended
