Quake City. This is not so much a museum as a memorial and witness to the heroism, bravery and loss of the Canterbury earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. The galleries are engrossing and spellbinding. The science of these sudden earth shifts and liquefaction is well and clearly laid out. One room loops a film of people’s experiences; rescue teams and emergency service personnel who responded, volunteers who helped, the Farmy Army, the survivors and those affected. It is mesmerising. So worth the time we took to visit before leaving Christchurch.
