Yeehawgust Day 21: An Unconventional Steed
Patch and his blue king quail, Louie.
Patch used to have two king quail; Charles and Louie, that pulled his wagon as he pilfered his way west towards the coast.
In the story Gone By Morning, he loses Charles and the wagon to bandits and now uses Louie as his quailsteed. Louie's pretty big, the equivalent I riding a draft horse. But he's a big softy <3

Birds can't pant to cool themselves but you've probably seen some with gaping beaks and bobbing throats, its looks like panting but its actually gular fluttering. Neat stuff.
