Hey everyone! With Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger officially revealed, everyone in the Toku community has been going (justifiably) insane with hype, myself included. In fact, I was pouring over the hi-res images that were released earlier today and I noticed something: most of the kyurangers have differences in their suits aside from the obvious colour and visor differences. Now some are obvious like Pink and Black, but some I didn’t notice until I really zoomed in. Now this could have something to do with the earlier rumors that some members of the team will be aliens, or it could be purely cosmetic. Either way, I’ll be pointing out the differences I’ve noticed.

ShishiRed: Since Red is our series mascot, his costume will be our baseline. He is our standard for what is normal with our outfits. However, I do notice that the top of his visor kind of protrudes from his helmet, though that’s probably cosmetic.

SasoriOrange: I looked this guy over and I can not for the life of me find anything up with his outfit. He seems just as regular as Red’s. Does this mean Orange and Red will both be human?

OokamiBlue: I’m ashamed to say that this guy took me the longest to find any differences. I almost said he was normal too, but something was bugging me about him. Then I found it: he has white fur sticking out of his collar. And while I haven’t found a super clear shot of his hands, I’m 90% sure his gloves have claws on them.

TenbinGold: It took me a while to notice this, but Gold is wearing armor. It’s super noticeable in this picture. Just look at his lower body compared to Orange and Silver. Also, he seems to be the only Kyuranger aside from Black who doesn’t have Ohranger style lips on his mouthplate.

OushiBlack: Now even before we had clear pics, we all knew about this difference: Black is much more physically massive compared to his teammates. That and his visor is the only one to physically protrude from his helmet to an extreme extent, but I suspect that’s either to differentiate the shape from MagiGreen, or to help the shape of the visor show up on the black background (his visor is the only one with a white outline). Also, I took a close look at him and he seems to be wearing the exact same type of armor as Gold. Does this imply a relationship between him and Gold? Are they robots? Time will tell.

HebitsukaiSilver: For the most part he looks normal, but I noticed that he has a snakeskin pattern going on on the side of his upper arms and upper thighs. Something no other Kyuranger seems to have. Is this just a cosmetic difference to signify his constellation? Or does it hint at something more?

ChameleonGreen: I feel like I’m reaching with this one, but the only major difference I can find on Green’s costume are the two round protrusions on the top of her helmet. I’m sure they’re decorative, but they’re unique enough from the rest of the team to warrant putting on here.

WashiPink: I wasn’t 100% sure on this one until the non-blurry pics came out this morning, but she has pink wings on her back. Considering this is a huge departure from the uniform that no other Kyuranger has (except maybe Blue’s claws) I doubt they’re there for purely cosmetic reasons.

KajikiYellow: Like Green, I feel like I’m reaching with this guy, but I notice that he has a vertical black crest or fin protruding from his helmet along the forehead. And on closer inspection, it seems to be separate from his visor. Is this another cosmetic affect, or does it imply Yellow may not be human? EDIT: I’m an idiot! I just noticed now that Yellow actually has a point extending out from the center of his visor. Think like Pinocchio's nose. I HIGHLY doubt that’s there just for cosmetics.

And that was my analysis of the uniforms in Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger. From the looks of things, it seems that only Red and Orange (and possibly Green, Yellow and Silver) have normal uniforms. One thing’s for sure though, this is the most diverse round of costumes Toei has ever produced and I absolutely love it!

I did this for Ex-Aid, now it’s Sentai’s turn.

More Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger image leaks!!!

Well... this was an interesting thing to wake up to. Here we have quite a few screenshots, including the full team, the mecha, the combined mecha, the weapons, and the KyuTama. Also, we get to see full shots of the Kyurangers, and if the skirts are any indication, all signs are pointing to Green and Pink being the only females on a team of nine. Disappointing, but not unexpected. And terrible confession time: I like male yellows, so I’m not disappointed by that addition. Still, Toei could have squeezed in at least one more female ranger.

Anyway, I’m feeling a little under the weather at the moment and having a hard time concentrating, so I might do a post with my overall opinions and thoughts later, but for now: I like it. I like it a lot!

So, very exciting day today, toku fans. Today, we saw the first official image of Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger and quite a few rumors were confirmed and disproved. However, there is still a lot we don’t know. So until we get official (I.e. Not small or blurry) images of the mecha and the arsenal our new heroes will be using to fight the forces of evil, I will continue to share what little I know in text form.

Now because today has been so very busy I actually have three rumors that I will be condensing into a single post. I found these rumors here, here, aaaaand here. Also I’ll be throwing in a few details from previous rumors that I missed because I’m a winner.

The morpher of this series (which can be seen in the photo I and many others posted earlier today) is called the SeizaBlaster, and it not only transforms the Kyurangers into their ranger suits, but, ala Kyoryuger and Nininger, it also serves as the team’s sidearm: a twin-barreled wrist-mounted laser gun. Why yes, I am salivating just talking about that.

The SeizaBlaster is capable of interacting with this year’s collectible gimmick: the KyuTama. They are going to be ball shaped items and are reported to have a joystick feature. If you look closely at the Kyuranger photo, you will see that each ranger has a ball in the center of the star emblem on their chests. I imagine those are either the KyuTama or something related to them. That leads me to think each ranger will morph by inserting their KyuTama into their morpher like in Kamen Rider Ghost (though hopefully it will be much better than Ghost). Oh yes, and there are supposed to be 42 KyuTama. I hope no one who collects Sentai merchandise had any plans to be financially responsible next year.

Next is an aspect of Sentai that, for me, is secondary only to the mecha: the weapons. I am very happy to report that yes, individual weapons are returning in a sense. Things are going to work similarly to how they did in Magiranger (I TOLD YOU I WAS GETTING VIBES FROM THAT SERIES) and Gingaman. Each ranger will have two weapons: KyuSpear and KyuAxe. However, these two can be combined into seven different configurations, giving us nine weapons in total, with each KyuRanger favoring one.

And finally, the biggest mystery of this season remains the mecha. We haven’t seen any pictures of them, and outside of each ranger’s individual motif, we have no idea what to expect any of them to look like. All we know is that they are called Voyagers, which leads me to believe they are all spacecraft, but we have no confirmation of that yet. Well, latest rumors do lead us to believe the following, though as always, take this with a grain of salt:

Shishi Voyager, is rumored to be the body of the five-piece mecha, with any of the other four attaching as limbs.

Shishi Voyager will also be the base of operations of the Kyurangers.

Tenbin Voyager and Hebitsukai Voyager are rumored to be humanoid robots.

Now just like before, here are my thoughts:

The Good:

YES WRIST-MOUNTED CHANGER!! THANK YOU GOD!

AND IT’S A WRIST-MOUNTED GUN! A lot of people don’t know this, but wrist-mounted guns are fifty-bajillion times superior to regular guns.

Individual weapons are back! And they sound like a solid arsenal too. I’m a little weary of red always getting the sword, but I can live with this.

HUMANOID MECHA!! I know we just got some with Nininger, but let’s be honest: ShinobiMaru was not the reason you hated that series.

The Bad:

Not so much a complaint as a desperate plea to Toei: PLEASE don’t let the KyuTama interfere with the mecha. I don’t want the mecha to be limited in what it can look like or how it can transform because it has to accompany a giant ball. While I like both of these seasons, Goseiger’s mecha was limited in the fact that each of them had to be designed with a detachable head in mind, and Kyoryuger’s mecha had to be designed around the fact that each one had to swallow a battery.

Why does KajikiYellow not get KyuRapier? Her animal is a swordfish, an animal that literally has a rapier for a nose!!

What the hell is a “slasher”? How is it different from Sword, Claw, or Sickle?

A lot of people like GokaiGallion, which people are immediately comparing Shishi Voyager to, and while I didn’t dislike it, I didn’t appreciate the fact that the other four mecha just fit inside of it until they were needed. Don’t ask me why I feel this way, but it made me feel like they were less important, or trivial. Like the only reason they were there was to form limbs for the giant robot. PLEASE don’t do this for the Kyuranger mecha.

Again, less of a dislike and more of a repeated plea: PLEASE let the mecha undergo some kind of transformation before combining. Don’t just rotate Shishi Voyager 90 degrees and attach four voyagers to it. Have Shishi turn into a torso and have the other four turn into limbs. The best example I can think of for what I want is Jet Icarus from Jetman. Show me a picture of the individual mecha, then show me a picture of the combined mech and make me wonder how it’s formed.

While I am excited for humanoid mecha, I was kind of hoping silver would have a snake mech...
