five questions for writers
Thanks a bunch for the tag @serioussamiam!
Iāll tag, with no obligation of course, 5 lovely writers:Ā @fishbone76 @pvoberstein @mistressnoriko @pinkmoos @defaultjane
And just for reference,Ā Renās Writing consists primarily of:
Mass Effect 3: Queenās Gambit & Shaynor StoriesĀ series, Shepley fic
Wynonna Earp: just friends & not just friends
1. Ā Do you have a favorite character to write? Who and why?
Iām definitely drawn to more sarcastic characters. Samantha Traynor from Mass Effect 3 is among my all-time faves. Iāve also enjoyed Ashley Williams and Diana Allers from ME for that same reason. I love me some snark. I also really like the show Wynonna Earp (cāmon, itās a modern supernatural western full of camp and cheese!), both the Earp sisters Wynonna and Waverly are a lot of fun.
2. Ā Do you have a favorite trope to write? Or one you want to write?
I mean, I like doing Slow Burn/Friends to Lovers stuff. But I guess those are more tags than tropes? I GET CONFUSED ON WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS. Otherwise Iām mostly Fluff. I like writing nice things where people have silly conversations. And I really like relationship exploration mostly via Fluff, just because thereās often a lot missing between point A to point C and it feels more realistic to hang out in Point B for a bit and feel like two characters (or more) are together for a reason, yāknow? I also dabble in Pair the Spare with the Normandy crew. I should probably get out of canon someday and actually do an AU, but part of me is a weird purist where I fell in love with these characters in context for a reason, and the canon context is often a big part of what I enjoy.
3. Ā Share your favorite description youāve written?
Despite being my first real attempt at smut, I did like some of the bits in Chapter 24 of QGA (āThe Shower Sceneā) and my spin on it. I wasnāt able to rely on my old crutch Dialogue as much.
Nubby goose flesh suddenly rose across Sam's arms, and an electric tingle sizzled up her spine. Half a second later, Sam's ears popped. From the supersonic boom of a biotic charge.
Then hot breath was at Sam's neck and fingertips pressed to her bare waist.
Guided in a 180-degree turn, Samantha noticed a biotic haze first. The light aura of smoky energy absorbed into the shower steam and dissipated.
4. Ā Share your favorite dialogue youāve written?
I really had a lot of fun with the beginning of chapter 30 of QGA between Sam and Allers.Ā But this part with Allers I feel really proud of, mostly because i can both see and feel how it played out.
Diana's head flopped against her chair back. She exhaled a loud, impatient groan at the ceiling.
"You're fucking impossible. ā¦Fine. How was your first day back at work?" Allers asked (rather insincerely). The data chit resumed spinning at her fingertips.
5. Ā A scene you havenāt written, but want to?
I have the Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3 sitting in various forms of draft that I canāt wait to dig into. I have a whole arc planned for Sam during that time, plus (unbeknownst) her dealings with the clone/breakup. I also have the game epilogue started in a fun way that Iām looking forward to exploring. JUST GOTTA GET THERE.
