After three years of bullshit, the QDRO is finally complete. I checked this morning and saw the transfer in my retirement account. I'm so grateful it's done. Fingers and toes crossed this doesn't lead to insane retaliation from the Asshole Ex. My brother thinks the Ex is finally out of steam. InshaAllah.
I'm trying to only think of the future. Dwelling in the past has served me no purpose. Moving forward. Moving on.
Taking my boys furniture shopping over the weekend to pick out a few things. It's still a bit early, but I think it's good to have an idea of what styles they might like. I got rid of a lot of stuff to make moving easier. Some stuff I sold, most stuff I just donated. I have more stuff to get rid of like my kids' headboards.
The pandemic actually worked in my favor, which I know sounds horrible, but it's the truth. Because I'm tenured, I kept my job and even got a tiny cost of living adjustment raise. It wasn't much, but I'll take it. I have been donating to a Muslim women's shelter in NY to keep up with my Zakat payments. It's difficult for me to pay Zakat in one lump sum, so I break it up into smaller sums throughout the year.
Overall, I have a lot to be grateful for. Alhammdulillah.
