“We could just stop printing all of this shit. I think they like the publicity that people are fucking dying,” Marlene grumbled as green eyes scanned The Prophet which laid on the surface in front of her. Another attack and more deaths, but as of late that wasn’t anything new to read about. “We know it. Fucking wait until we have something along the lines of we burned all of their pathetic sense of a fashion statement of protest against the world and locked them up.”

Cue dramatic pause.

The Weasley boy was shouting at her but she took no notice. He'd followed her through the passageway at the base of the Whomping Willow, somehow managing to wrench the rat from her jaws before rushing further into the Shrieking Shack, obviously not realizing where he was until she'd backed him into one of the bedrooms. Transformed back into her human form, that's when it'd started. Far too adept at ignoring the screams of Azkaban (including her own), the teenager's barely fazed her. All that mattered was that Peter was finally before her and Thatcher would have her revenge. 

That is, until they were joined by two more. She felt a fresh flash of pain upon seeing Harry. She would have recognized him anywhere. He was the spitting image of James, though it was Lily's eyes glaring hatefully back at her. What must he have thought of her? Had Sirius told him? Anything? The urge to hug her godson propelled her forward but it was the appearance of one of her oldest and closest friends that stalled her.

"Remus," she croaked, voice raspy and unused but a tone of familiarity there.

"Thatcher," he started slowly. "Back away from him."

The coldness in his voice struck any fondness from her heart. No. There would be times to fix things later. Now was the time for revenge. "How did you know I was here?"

"The map," he replied, placing himself between her and the teenagers.

She let out a joyless chuckle. She'd nearly forgotten about that thing. It'd been confiscated in their seventh year. "Should have known...then you've seen. You've seen him. Step aside, Remus, and let me commit the murder I was convicted of.”

I’m pretty sure it’s beyond obvious by now that I flipping adore Sirius. I have to admit I didn’t start reading the books until the deathly hallows came out at the movies so what I knew of Sirius was only that shown in the movies, but even so, I loved movie!Sirius and reading about book!Sirius just made me fall in love with him all the more. He’s just one of those characters that I feel so bad for and want to protect from the world. Literally, his only happiness was being at Hogwarts and his best friends and the Potters but all that was taken away from him when he got sent to azkaban for 12 flipping years. The fact that he never got a trail and no one bothered to check his wand to see if HE had cast the spell that killed all the muggles (and Peter) annoys me so much. That was all they literally had to do! But no, cause they’re fuck wits. 

I find sometimes people give Sirius crap for the way he acts during ootp but the thing is he was sent to azkban when he was around 21/22, spent 12 years locked up in there all alone while dealing with the dementors and the images of his best friend and his (james’) wife dead, then when he finally escapes and comes back to the ‘real’ world a decade has past. Of course Sirius wouldn’t act the same as an adult who’s had the proper time emotionally grow. I feel like saying “you spent a decade locked up in azkaban and we’ll see how much you’ve grown mentally/emotionally after”. I’m not saying that Sirius being reckless, moody and having a bit of an anger issue is a good thing, but it’s also completely understandable how what he’s been through has affected how he is an an adult. 

I just get super emotional about Sirius, to be honest. His love for the marauders and Harry just makes me so happy. Honestly, I think it’s amplified even more knowing what kind of family he came from and how he does have that Black nature of being dark and having a temper so you’d think he’s dangerous (and lbr, he can be) but when it comes to people that he loves, Sirius is so gentle with them and loving and loyal and omg my heart can’t take it. Literally, any time Sirius pops up in the books I’m always trying to contain the grin on my face. The way he acts around Harry, James and Remus always makes me <3 <3 To be honest, I’d even love to see more of Sirius and Peter because I know they were great friends at Hogwarts but unfortunately we saw very little of their past :(
