I was nervously pacing my room, an hour ago I had finished school and decided that I was going to tell my parents that I liked girls. It was hard through the years of growing up since my parents (mostly my mom) would throw boys my way, having the excuses of ‘He’s not my type’ on each one. Secretly I think my dad was slowly catching onto me since all he ever saw was girls in my life.

I decided to call my best friend Lyndsey, she had finished high school about two years ago and now tours with her three friends, Alex, Brian and Justin in a band called PVRIS. Lynn and I, we had something although we weren’t dating yet we would hold hands and act like a couple which I didn’t mind.

“Hey, y/n! We were just talking about you, what’s up?” The sounds of Lynn’s voice instantly calmed me. “I’m going to tell my mom and dad, tonight.” I let out a breath that I didn’t know I was holding.

“Are you sure you’re ready for that? I know how your parents can be-” I cut her off. “I’m definetly ready.” I answered as I chewed on my lip. “Good luck!” I heard Lynn and the boys yell before I hung up.

I slowly made my way downstairs as I saw my mom sitting at the table, writing down the bills while my father sat reading the daily news paper. “Mom? Dad? I need to tell you something..”

“You’re pregnant? I knew it! That’s why you’ve been craving weird foods.” I looked at my mom in disbelief. “What? NO!” What even put that into her mind?

“Oh sure, y/n. How could you?!” I was getting angrier by the minute. “I’m GAY, MOM!” Mom looked at me in shock while dad had lowered his newspaper. “If you tried to let me explain without interrupting, I would’ve told you, but no that’s all you ever do! You always talk, you never listen!”

I grabbed my jacket and ran out the house, hearing my dad yelling my name as I ran as fast as I could to Lynn’s house. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I rapidly knocked on her door, after she answered, I fell into her arms as she pulled me closer to get me inside. “She was accusing me of being pregnant!”

I heard one of the boys laugh, “OUCH! LYNN WHAT THE HELL?!” I looked up to see Alex laying on his side, holding his head with one of Lynn’s boots beside him. “It’s not nice to laugh.” I let out a laugh which made Lynn smile and Brian chuckle. “OH BUT ITS OKAY FOR YOU GUYS TO LAUGH?!”

“I’m a girl.” I stated, making Brian laugh more, which put a smile onto my face. “See we all love and support you.” Lynn smiled and kissed my forehead, making Alex coo at us. The next thing was a blur, I watched as Lynn picked up her other boot and hearing Alex scream like a girl made me cry of laughter, watching as he climbed over the back of the couch while Lynn hurled the shoe towards his way.

“What do you say, we have a movie and pizza night, y/n?” I smiled and nodded as Lynn pulled me into a tight hug. “I’ll always be here for you, babygirl.” She whispered into my ear before she kissed the side of my head.

After that night, mom and dad accepted that I was into girls and that night, Lynn had asked me to be her girlfriend which I happily accepted.
