My dad was actually the one who entered me in my very first art competition when I was 8 or 9 years old, I didn’t win anything though…but I still have the plaque in my mom’s office. He definitely gave me the support I needed when I doubted myself.
The year after I lost my dad, I sold my first painting. There’s so much significance to that specific piece in which it not only sort of sparked everything revolved around my practice, but also made me want to continue to explore such ideas.
That painting is dedicated to him because if there’s anyone who’s ever inspired me to hustle & truly pursue my goals, it’s my dad” - Courtney
