Hello and welcome to another Purity Artist Spotlight! We’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to another one of our comics contributors, Aero Zero. Aero has completed their comic, which stars the two characters shown above--and it is seriously spicy!

Aero is an impressively prolific artist, with a number of series under their belt. They are currently updating two webcomics: Ace of Beasts and Men+Monsters. (Those two, Ace of Beasts and Men+Monsters, are quite explicit--so make sure you save that click ‘til you’re home from work!) Aero works in full color, with tons of soft blues and glorious reds. Aero knows how to make her figures seriously pop!

All of Aero’s work thus far features beautiful men and colorful monsters (and that includes their personalities!) Hello and welcome to another Purity Artist Spotlight! This time around, we’re happy to introduce you to Blankd, a longtime comics creator. 

Blankd is best-known for her long-running webcomic, DeStress, with hundreds of pages under her belt (see bottom image). On a rare personal note, Anne first encountered DeStress in 2012, as it was hosted on SmackJeeves (the same site that hosts Devoto). Anne originally assumed it was set in a pre-existing RPG universe and didn’t give it another shot until 2014, at which point she felt like a massive doofus, because DeStress is 100% original work, just with a jaw-dropping amount of in-depth worldbuilding. (And trust me, the complexity pays off.) If you’re a worldbuilding buff, definitely give it a try! In Blankd’s words,

I really enjoy fantasy stories along the lines of mythology with flawed gods and/or low-magic settings.  Stories with a sense of consequence and gravity are where I'd like to be at and I find sharing these stories is well worth its creation. As of late I feel mainstream stuff could be better, so webcomics and visual novels are my way of (hopefully) addressing it and giving people one more thing to experience, and if I'm lucky, inspire them to do their own thing.

Blankd is also working on the “I am Not a Monster!” Visual Novel, which has its own Tumblr here! If you like M/M visual novels, monsters, and body diversity, you’ll definitely want to give it a look! (I’m in it for the bara Garuda!) Additionally, Blankd is the artist responsible for the popular “Jar of Honey” (NSFW) short comic, with a sequel in the works. 

Purity will feature Blankd’s comic “Clear Recent” (see top image). If you love science fiction, we’re sure you will love this! We’re excited to have Blankd on board, and we hope you enjoy Clear Recent!

Welcome to another Purity Artist Spotlight! Today, we’re elated to introduce our contributing illustrator 8080, also known as Teal, an animator from Kansas City. Her delicate but free linework is both deliberate and slightly whimsical. 8080 works in traditional and digital media, as can be seen on her personal art blog. 

8080 is a devoted creator. In 8080’s words,

In highschool I actively spent hours online looking for anything containing gay/lesbian characters. I eventually realized that the kind of validation I experienced through finding those narratives could be something I pass on through my art. My goal now is to continue building positive stories and role models for lgbt youth to identify with.
