The last thing on your mind right now is probably to think about cleaning your plumbing. However, unfortunately, the plumbing system will become critical as you spend more time socially distant at home. The last thing that might bother you is blocked toilet or broken toilet. You will have to call a plumber to get rid of this problem.

Fortunately, you can do a lot to ensure that your plumbing is now completely operational. If you search for easy and efficient ways to take things for a while away, it is nice to take care of your plumbing appliances.  

Clean up Your Waterways

Most clogs of drain do not happen at once. Instead, inside your drainage pipes, gunk and grime build up over time. Deleting this gunk early helps avoid most future obstructions. We recommend that your sink, shower and tub drains be cleaned regularly, even if they do not appear obstructed. This is the perfect time now! You just need white vinegar, soda and hot water.

Place a cup of baking soda down your drain, around 1⁄2 first. Take a cup of white vinegar and leave the mixture sitting for about 15 minutes. Repeat on each of your drains while you are waiting. Boil a cup of water per drain you purify. Put a cup of hot water down each drain after 15 minutes. Baking soda and vinegar's chemical reaction breaks down the gunk in the drains and then the warm waters wash it.

Clear the Traps

The "trap" is the curved tube that connects the drainage tube with the sewer tube below each sink. Traps are sometimes called "s-traps", “p-traps," or "u-traps" depending on the shape of their curves. The trap's curve is intended to retain some of the water that is flushed through the draining. This water creates an air barrier that prevents the leakage of sewage gasses. Unfortunately, the traps hold the other things you wash down the drain unintentionally.

Thankfully, the traps can be removed and cleaned quickly. Find your sink with the trap first. It is curved and made of metal or PVC with two slip nozzles attached to each tube. Place some rubber bands underneath the trap and place a pot. Detach this using either a hand or a lever to remove the slip nuts. Pour all into the bucket in the pit. Ensure that nothing is picked up inside the trap and wash it off. Once cleaning is finished, substitute the trap for the slip nuts to be tightened. Run the sink to ensure it all works properly.

Clean Up Your Bathrooms

Your shower doesn't work as well as before, not just your imagination. Fortunately, the problem is surprisingly simple: it's your showerhead, probably. Over time, the showerhead's tubes can be blocked by the build-up, minerals and other gunk. This is often the case with hard water in your home. Your showerhead can be washed quickly and easily again from your showers.

This can be approached in several ways. First of all, try to dip an old toothbrush and scrub the dust. Try throwing 1⁄2 cup of white vinegar, 1⁄2 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of hot drinking water into a plastic bag if that doesn't work. Tie the showerhead bag so that the nozzles are immersed. At last, try to take the showerhead apart in the direction. Search and clean the filter in the sink inside the shower head. Explore the indoor nozzles as long as you are at them.

Galvanized Pipes? What Does that Mean?

Many homeowners become concerned when they begin to see coloration or impurities in their tap water. Many times this is from the plumbing system made up of galvanized pipes.

Galvanized pipes are either iron or steel pipes that have been given a zinc coating. The purpose of the zinc coating was to prevent the material from rusting. Galvanized piping became the staple for cold-water plumbing in the early 1900′s, and remained the standard for just over 40 years.

Even though the Zinc coating helped keep the elements off of the steel, rusting is inevitable. In the case of piping, it rusts from the inside out. The water pressure will be affected due to plaques and particles. As the metal flakes of, you’ll be able to see the impurities in the water. So if your tap water has a slight coloration to it, and your home was built quite some decades ago, it might be due to the pipes rusting. The piping is expected to last about 70 years, but that number does vary depending on region, thickness of original coating, and the type of water supply.

Since World War II, galvanized piping was widely replaced by copper and plastic, so that water from a homes interior would be drinkable. There are still very many homes built during the galvanized pipe times, so many people have these in their homes.
