Have you ever considered the idea that chance isn't real at all and that even probabilities are being caused. Thus, by the law of causality, we only react to things in life without really making what we'd define as a real decision. And the only thing truly random might actualy just be in some weird aspect of quantum physics (depending on the interpretation), as in Schorsinger's cat experience based of the unpredictable degradation of an atom, which would make up entierly what we call "free will" which then again doesn't sound much like free will if it is a reaction caused by a random/unpredictable events.
