The Cobalt Crust or Velvet Blue Spread, Pulcherricium caeruleum (Corticales - Corticaceae), is the easiest recognized of all Corticiaceae. The fruit body is resupinate, adnate but in older specimens loosening in the margins, orbicular and confluent and thus sometimes becoming quite large. The color is vivid violet-blue when alive and in good state, older specimens fading to greyish or brownish blue. It grows worldwide, on dead branches of deciduous trees [source].
