☮: Opinion on peace

Aern: “S’only right to end these kinds of conflicts, right? The dragons were wronged, so we’ve gotta make some amends there but... We had to stop Nidhogg. I made a promise to Alphinaud t’do that! I mean... Peace is somethin’ we’ve lived without for a very long time. We need more of it. Maybe one day, enough peace’ll let me just hang up my staff and settle in with Silver. Gods be good, wouldn’t that be somethin’. For now though... I mean. Ala Mhigo is still a problem. We won’t have peace until somethin’s done about that, right? Peace for all or peace for none, right? So I mean... If it takes a lil fightin’ t’get there, I’m not afraid of that. S’gotta be better than anyone else sufferin’.”

Moss: [softly grunts] “Peace is temporary. Ishgard needed saved. Only did it because damn beasts woulda gone further. Shoulda let their own conflict burn out. But nah. Ishgard won’t know peace. Too many of those types. Too much greed. Same with Ala Mhigo. But those bastards deserve better. Saw too much in the desert. Too much sufferin’. Willin’ to fight for them. But there’s no peace in it. No peace to be had. Wipe this damned world clean, and maybe then.”

Aern: “I mean... We all believe in the Navigator, right? But dunno... Gods and stuff. They’re there? I guess. Dunno. I guess I’ve dealt with enough gods ‘n primals and such t’really think much about it! S’kinda nice t’think about someone keepin’ an eye on me though!”

Moss only shifts a little uncomfortably before shaking her head some. “Few gods out in the Spine. Fewer in the desert. Rather not think about it.”

Aern: “Ahaha! Luck’s kinda tricky, yeah? I mean, how much can I say is luck and how much of it is me bein’ good at what I do, right? I can always say luck got me outta the way or luck got me this ‘n that but.. dunno about that. S’gotta be real though. Just look at Silver! Luckiest lady in Eorzea t’have him. An’ the rest of my company! Didn’t work t’find them it just... happened. So dunno! Luck’s gotta be there but not gonna say I don’t just have th’ability t’do stuff either.”

okay so there are only a few sad things about these two mostly bc we try to keep things fluffy and lighthearted with them but

♒ to learn about my character’s childhood

AERN HAD A PRETTY CHILL CHILDHOOD… Growing up Limsa proper, she had a lot of time to sort of run free in the city as long as she stayed out of trouble. Even if she didn’t know him, a chunk of the Maelstrom officers during her childhood knew her grandfather (as well as the rest of her family but they also understood that there had been a falling out bad enough to get Glazlona disowned. They were willing to keep all this shame from Aern but weren’t willing to completely abandon Glazlona’s kid). This meant that a lot of the time she avoided getting into much trouble if only because most of the people she associated with were all involved in the Maelstrom for Some Mysterious Reason. But she grew up pretty happy and content in the city proper with her mother and her friends! The Calamity happens when she’s 15 and with it, Aern loses a chunk of her childhood companions and guardians. But there are still a few Mauraders in the guild who remember the wild barefoot Roegadyn girl running around and are totally willing to tell bad stories about her growing up (Ask them about how she got the scar on her cheek from sneaking up on a gentleman fishing.)

Ohhhh Gosh Aern hates being put on the spot about things. If someone asks Aern for her input without a buffer point to think, Aern kind of clams up and freezes until someone else can break things up for a second. She also gets a little uncomfortable when dealing with strangers cracking jokes about Roegadyn... It’s one thing for a friend to kinda nudge her about her height or how big she is but strangers coming up and asking really creepy questions makes her just... want.... to.... slowly.... walk away....

Moss hates big crowds! Going into the cities always puts her on edge and she tends to be super short and frustrated with people. She likes to get her business finished and move back out into the field.

Having grown up in Limsa, Aern’s really fond of seafood and other coastal things! Nothing terribly fancy is needed, but grilled fish and the occasional bunch of veggies is her ideal meal most of the time. Silver’s slowly started getting her more used to the richer foods of Thanalan...

Moss is actually quite accomplished at cooking! Her favorites include aldgoat meat and various stews. Cooking for all her brothers meant making things that she could easily add to and extend. She does, however, occasionally spoil herself with rolandberries if she can find some and won’t share those with her brothers.

( ⌒o⌒)人(⌒-⌒ ) = Friends the character has or would like to make

AERN HAS... SO MANY FRIENDS.... she’s the type of person who makes friends with everyone she meets! Granted, there are some friendships that are a bit deeper, like with Popola and Renaud and David and the rest of her FC even, but there are an extremely small number of people who seem to garner even a touch of dislike from her. In terms of friends she’d like to make, running into Gosetsu has her interested in what the Domans might be like! She’s really only had encounters with Yugiri and a few of the other refugees, who were all a touch more... reserved that what’s she’s accustomed to seeing. (Not to mention she also has this budding hope that if she ever did meet her father, that he would be just like Gosetsu in personality.)

💄- Do they wear makeup?

She does! A little anyway... Mostly some eye makeup and her trademark bright lipstick! Much more than that is hard to maintain out adventuring.

💵- Does price ever factor into deciding to buy clothes?

“O-Oh hyll. I’m not spendin’ that much when I could just ask Kurt or Silver t’make it for me...”She does take price into account for a lot of her gear and other glamour items. Most of the time, however, she can usually get someone to help her make it without much fuss. Base materials are always cheaper...

Urianger: Has my character lost a loved one?

SO. This is kind of a strange question! If you asked her yourself, Aern would say no. But if you started listing off certain NPCs that have perished, she would consider them loved ones... but also consider the losses to be bigger than just her. She didn’t lose them; everyone lost them. So her own sadness and distress was just a natural reaction right?

Tataru: What does my character find cute?

AERN!! LOVES!! SEEDKIN!! Little plant critters like korpokkurs are the cutest things to her (no morbols though. fuck morbols). She also loves gobbues and adamantoise as well. Other cute aesthetic things include: lacy clothes, sylphs, Silver’s concentration face when he’s reading.

Nanamo: Has my character ever been betrayed?

If you don’t count MSQ related things, then not really... The biggest betrayal one could claim would be her mother keeping her from the rest of her family, but even that is rooted in her mother’s fear that the family will be cruel to her daughter. It’s easier to say they want nothing to do with each other than try to reach out again and risk it. And if Aern ever finds out about it, it would honestly be devastating. 

Merlwyb: Can my character swim?

Yes!! Aern is actually fairly good at swimming! She loves going to Costa Del Sol and enjoying the water when the weather is nice.

Momodi Modi: What’s the best way to woo my character?

Ohoho~ Aern is very much impressed by people of action. Someone saying they’re going to do something and then actually following through with conviction?? Even if it’s something as simple as a crafting list, watching people actually doing something makes her swoon.
