Sometimes I'll go back over part of a previous story, to check consistency with a character voice (or... how close a coffee shop which was mentioned precisely once is to another location that was also only mentioned once, for example...) and inevitably I end up reading on further than I needed to -
-and sometimes something that wasn't written to have a particular meaning or a particular link suddenly flicks a switch.
Just had a minor character suddenly latch on to a current American player's face and style, despite me not having even heard of the American when I wrote the character, and now that's an unbreakable connection in my head.
