Reading the statement "we understand now that it was a mistake to segregate diverse books," you'd think Scholastic was talking about bullshit they got up to historically and not *checks watch* this month.
Scholastic Book Fairs were a highlight of my childhood but man alive, I hope Scholastic loses more money than they thought they were going to save by capitulating to bigots and yanking books with queer/BIPOC characters/authors from their main show, putting them in an opt-in box, shipping them separately (and late), and excluding them from the book fair catalog.
And then to hide behind the idea this was to "protect" educators? Please. This was always profit motivated.
Roasted this man for coming for me on TikTok for criticizing publishing's exploitative payment structures but thought what I had to say was worth posting here as well
