in this generation, schools really need to update their teaching techniques. no matter the age, whether you’re a toddler in preschool or a 21 year old in their 3rd year of college, eventually you will come to realize this. they need to cut the shit with the fucking Pythagorean theorem, quantum theory, frog dissecting bullshit. quit fucking teaching with their mouth and showing us movies and show us something real. quit grading papers according to grammar and number charts, focus on the creativity and the reality of how the paper actually fits into the world around us. they need more field trips to places that actually fucking matter where we learn something and have fun. bring us camping. teach us how to survive in harsh environments with nothing but our bare hands. teach us how the fuck to manage our money. give us budgets that are actually realistic and let us buy imaginary houses and cars and shit. help us see what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. teach us what the real world is like. teach us how to file our fucking taxes and how they even work. teach us laws that are actually fucking important and will come up in everyday life that we may not even be aware of. bring us to job fairs where we’d learn how to fill out applications and make resumes. bring us to a dealership and teach us how to find the most cost effective car, better yet teach us about driving somewhere in between french class and learning how to put a condom on a god damn banana. give us real life numbers, data, statistics and show us why math really is necessary. stop making us make clay mugs and fucking self portraits in art class and actually individually get to know all of our creative sides. and when some of us learn differently than others or excel at one specific subject then fucking support that and help us gain structure from that. realize that some of us aren't fortunate enough to have the privilege of caring about where we go to college and figure out our completely unrealistic dream jobs, some of us are just trying to survive. realize that even privileged kids will be on their own one day and might want to know some of these things. throughout our lives we are in school for 12 years. roughly 3000 days our lives. 25,000 hours. we spend roughly 7% of our lives in school. we have 25,000 hours that could be divided up into TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND CLASSES SPLIT INTO HOUR SEGMENTS so someone PLEASE tell me WHY STUDENTS OF EVERY AGE are struggling every single day to learn this nonsense and THEN ADULTS are STILL struggling once we’ve been released into the real world. why.
