I miss Psychic Babble.
Get Lost In The World Of PSYCHIC BABBLE
Picture in your mind what if feels like to go on a drive at night with thoughts racing through your mind and then how refreshing it feels once you park the car and all those thoughts come together. That feeling you feel as you park the car is what it feels like to listen to âPsychic Babbleâ which is none other than the side project from Colin Frangicetto (Circa Survive). Colin delivers infectious melodies, songs that will become a soundtrack to your road trips and songs you turn to when you feel lonely. After listening to âPsychic Babbleâsâ debut âMy brotherâs ears/ my sisterâs eyesâ you realize how talented of an artist Colin is. With so much music being released lacking in sincerityâŚItâs refreshing to have Psychic Babble step up to the plate and show others the way music should be. Sit back, relax and open your eyes and ears to what Colin Frangicetto had to say when I recently got the chance to talk with him with his incredible project.
1) Back in August you released âmy brotherâs ears/my sisterâs eyesâ how does it feel to finally have it released to the public? it is quite a relief as well as somewhat surreal. i think it is really easy to feel like a project will never be finished when youre in the middle of working on it. Â you just keep remembering how much is left to do and your mind does this weird dissociative thing. Â its quite an accomplishment for me so I feel wonderful about it.
2) What has been the most exciting thing about this new project of yours? What has been the scariest thing about starting a solo project? I think it has been this limitless feeling i get any time i think about it. Â i can do anything with it and at the end of the day i am the only one who says yay or nay. the scariest thing is definitely fear of rejection and losing perspective on wether its any good. Â when theres noone there to tell you it could better, its up to you to say that to yourself and sometimes you can just get paralyzed. Â
3) Along with beautiful music you create amazing artwork. Do you see some of the inspiration from your art flowing into the music you create? thank you⌠um i suppose there is a crossover of energy⌠i do see them quite separately now as activities but theyll always be connected as they come from the same place!Â
4) I read somewhere that you played all the instruments on this album? How was it to be able to experiment with different sounds for this album? well like i said before, it was a very limitless experience and ultimately i got to just make every aspect exactly the way i wanted. Â in the studio i am quite like a kid in a candy shop and i wanna just try everything. Â but i also have the ability to be very decisive. so it was very nice to have this open mind, trying whatever i felt like but just as quickly as id come up with something cool Id decide this is good im gonna roll with this and if i hate it later ill change it. Â i often tried to trust my gut. Â maybe 15% of the stuff id go back and change but most of it stayed. its beautiful when you can not stress and be very productive at the same time.
5) With already 3 months since your release date..you have a strong debut, an amazing following..whatâs next for Psychic Babble? well im in full on circa mode now but i have alot of plan for PB. Â im working on writing another record, i have this weird instrumental stuff i might release as a mix tape and then i have this covers album im messing with. Â after that i think ill be ready to find some players and take it on the road, do a few shows.
6) Did you find when you went to record byâ brotherâs ears/my sisterâs eyesâ there was a lot of added pressure with it? or did it feel more like an artistic release that needed to be tapped into? i didnt really feel any pressure other than to put the headphones down from time to time to hang out with my wife! haha. she is the most patient creature on earth when it comes to my obsessive work schedule so i really try to make an effort to give her the time and love she deserves.Â
 7) Your father took the picture for your album cover and the title is âmy brotherâs ears/my sisterâs eyesâ was including your family on this project something that was important for you?  yes and i totally failed to give him a photo credit! do you believe that? im a bonehead sometimes. i know he doesnt care about that stuff but the man deserves alot more than just credit for the cover.  his influence on me is and always has been profound. he not only got me into the best music on earth at a young age but i believe i got most of my creative drive/energy from him.  my mom gave me her patience and caring nature but my dad is endlessly creative with everything he does and an amazing teacher.  this album is a love letter to my family.  both of them actually, my immediate family, my wife and my circa family.  this is me showing myself in everyday life but basically saying, you made me this way.  you are my world.  you gave me the confidence and the love that was required to walk this high wire.  iâll never be able to thank them for all theyve done for me.
8 ) What excites you about music? so many things excite me about it but i love how much power it has to unite people.  as my dad says it transcends all. Â
 9) What was the recording process like?  very scattered.  i did most of it on my own in various houses, apartments, tour buses, vans, hotel rooms etc. then i went in to my buddy Vince Rattiâs studio last december and spent about a month recording good stuff. filling in the blanks, re-doing vocals and adding real drums, etc.Â
 10) Itâs rumored you already have another album in the works..will we be seeing more of Psychic Babble soon hopefully?yes indeed.
11)Â Where can people gain access to your music?
you can download my EP for free on psychicbabble.blogspot.com  (scroll down)  or just go tofacebook.com/PsychicBabble you can download it there and hear other tunes.  the full length album is available on all digital retailers and there are limited vinyl LPs available @ http://new.merchnow.com/catalogs/psychic-babble if you dont feel like doing any of that just download it ILLEGALLY. :)
 12) If you could look back 5 years and tell yourself something that you know now that you wish you knew then.. what would it be? The wind and the sun have a contest of strength⌠they make a bet to see which one can get a man to take his jacket offâŚ. the wind assumes it can take it off by force⌠it blows and blows and blows trying to bring the coat of the mans back but the man resists.  the suns turn⌠the sun just shines brightly and steady, doing its natural thing and the man takes the coat off him self and seems happy about it.
