I am tentatively on board ish with the idea of Mapleshade's psychosis, but... eeeeh. I prefer to think of that not as like, a diagnosed consistent mental disorder, but rather as a consequence of starvation, sleep deprivation and raging infection. She got pretty desperate at the end, with nothing left to lose. Her kits tried to communicate to her to let go and join them in StarClan, but the message became twisted in translation.
I have a whole other headcanon regarding StarClan/Dark Forest interferance making everything worse, though. But that's a totally different tangent.
