As soon as Dabi had sauntered into the room he could sense the shift in atmosphere, something tangible and heavy and tense hanging in the air as he approached the Yakuza boss. The two had been at their song and dance, their game of cat and mouse for weeks now, and each time Dabi left it felt like he still had the upper hand. Right now though, he didn’t like the near mirth he could see reflected in the golden gaze of the gangster, as if he was lording over something that Dabi didn’t know.
Had he found out that he and Shigaraki had simply set up an elaborate game with him to ensure his downfall? Had Toga and Twice accidentally let some important intel slip and thwarted their plan they had set for the long haul?
Each question burned in his mind, chaotic thoughts hidden behind a steely, sapphiric stare as he kept his inner turmoil a closely guarded secret. Something about this wasn’t right, his instincts were telling him that he was in some sort of danger. Despite this, Dabi opted to remain cool and composed, as if the gangster’s smugness did not phase him at all.
The villain isn’t able to help his tensioning posture as Chisaki approaches, eyes widening almost imperceptibly as Chisaki reaches a hand out and touches his stapled cheek with a bare hand. He wasn’t stupid, this gesture right here was meant as a threat, a warning. Whatever the gangster had on him, he knew that Dabi would probably become volatile.
And his fears are completely proven terribly correct as that cursed name falls from the bastard’s lip, his own lips pulling back into a menacing snarl, stretching out the seams and pulling at the staples as he all but bares his teeth at the gangster. That name, that wasn’t him anymore! More importantly, who the hell had he found out Dabi’s identity of the man he used to be, of his previous life?! Dabi can’t even pretend to be of the mind to try and act like the name meant nothing, as if he had no inkling as to what Chisaki was referring to because there was no possible way he could have found out-
Unless he went directly to the source...To his family. No, to Touya’s family.
“Where...” He growls, eyes seeming to unnaturally glow in his rage and madness. “The fuck did you hear that fucking name Kai?” He spits, unable to resist digging in his own jab at the Yakuza Boss. His fists clench tightly, teeth gritted as he glowered at the other man, trying to resist letting his body engulf itself in flames at his rage and maybe fear.
