Splatter Tutorial
Here’s a graphic tutorial on how to make this type of graphics.
You’ll need
Photoshop
Splatter brushes that you can get here
Patience
First, open a picture file>open and extract the background and put it onto a white background. If you don’t use a white background you might not get the effect. we have not tried it with a different coloured background yet.
Now create a new layer. On the new layer, you’re going to use the splatter brush in white all over one side of your picture. Change the settings of your brush (windows>brush) if you want. Changing the settings of your brush is totally optional. Using the splatter brush, make one side of your picture to look something like this. Your brush colour should be set to white. It should look something like this now.
Next, duplicate the layer of your extracted picture. So far, this should be your layers
Go to filter>liquify on the base layer. You’re going to liquify the bottom layer; layer 0 in my case and not the duplicated layer. Distort the image as much as you want on the side where you have put the splatter brushes. I’ve distorted Taylor until she looks like this.
On your distorted mask, go to layer> layer mask>hide all. On that layer, use a WHITE splatter brush, preferably a different brush from before and click on random places on the left, in this case, side of the picture.
And yay! You’re done.
Side note: You can edit your brush settings if you want them to look more random. These are my usual shape dynamics settings but you could add the scattering effect if you want the brushes to be more random.
