                    𝐈𝐭’𝐬     𝐚𝐧     𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭     𝐭𝐨     𝐡𝐞𝐫     𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐬     when     she     enters     the     coffee     shop     just     off     campus.     Like     everything     else     in     Auradon     ,     it     was     a     touch     TOO     CHIPPER.     Barista     sings     a     welcome     to     her     that’s    drowned     out     by     the     Christmas     music     that     continues     to     play     well     past     the     holiday.     He     couldn’t     have     picked     a     more     infuriating     place     to     meet     her.     With     jaw     clenched     ,     she     drags     herself     through     the     vast     expanse     of     the     cafe.     The     rich     had     a     way     of     making     everything     that     much     bigger     and     that     much     more     hollow.     It’s     not     hard     to     spot     him.     Tall     ,     even     when     sitting     ,     sticks     out     like     a     sore     thumb.     She     wonders     how     he     sees     the     world     through     gaze     of     ice.     But     her     eyes     don’t     linger     on     him     long     ,     attention     quickly     drawn     to     the     girl     seated     across     him.     She     leans     and     she     laughs     and     twirls     a     finger     through     her     bleach     blonde     hair     and     Aklla     imagines     how     she’d     look     with     fingers     severed.    

The     click     of     heels     against     spotless     tile     is     piercing     until     she     stops     in     front     of     the     table.     In     one     swift     motion     ,     she     drives     her     knife     into     the     center     of     the     table.     Draws     a     few     looks     ,     but     she     doesn’t     pay     it     any     mind.     Barely     pays     him     any     mind.
