Day 1: Ordinary:

Matthew didn't understand it sometimes. Gilbert was one of the most incredible, interesting people he had ever met, and, for whatever reason, he chose to spend his time listening to Matthew talk about-- about what, exactly? About his life, his completely normal and unremarkable... life.

"Hey, babe, I--" Matthew had paused what he was doing, his hand tightening around the knife in his hand. He kept his eyes on the half chopped pile of vegetables when he continued, "I can stop, if you want to talk about your day."

"Huh?" Gilbert looked up from where he was fiddling with some radio his brother had given him at their dining room table. "But you're not done."

"Yeah, but... I'm good. I think I've been talking for too long."

He laughed, like it was a completely ridiculous thing to say. "Never, birdie. I never get tired of listening do you."

Matthew sent the knife down. "Why?"

"Why? What do you mean why? You're the most extraordinary person in the world, that's why."

He really thinks that, doesn't he...? "I think that about you, though. So how can we both be the most amazing people in the world?"

Kind of. So, I lack the motivation to actually write anything, but I did plot out an entire novel and I’m hoping to do it for NaNoWriMo, but here’s my submission for prucan week bc I did use the prompts and write all of this out.

Day 6: Resurrection

Matthew breaks through the darkness into glaring consciousness with a gasp. As always, it took him a moment to recall his humanity-- that his mind was now connected to a body.

"Welcome back, birdie."

Ideas-- what a voice is, how it's made, why somebody would use it, who was using it, what that meant... "Gil-- Gilbert?" He ties his existence to physicality in saying the words, and though his eyes had been open-- he finally sees. It is Gilbert. East Germany. His...

"Why are you here--" Maybe that was the wrong question. Maybe he meant how, but Gilbert always managed to outsmart the how, so...

"Saw you die," he responds with a tight smile. Like the rest follows naturally. Like there was o other solution to such a thing, than to standing waiting at Matthew's resurrection point.

"But..."

Day 3: Crossing the Threshold:

It was a joke when Gilbert first brought it up, the tradition of carrying your new bride across the threshold of the house. Since then, it had been a fight between them. Well, not a real fight, not with any malice, but in the way that couples play at fights, arguing back and forth for the joy of sharpening wit.

The side-effect of so much talking about it, though, meant that the idea had gotten into the back of their minds. They were both measuring each other up, both thinking about their chances at getting the other into their arms and over the threshold more quickly. All in all, Matthew was winning the hypothetical. They both knew that. But Gilbert had one thing Matthew didn't: hubris. So he dismissed their height difference and weight difference and...

Day 4: The Ordeal

The ordeal, Gilbert thought, is way over-selling it. Because it hadn't been "an ordeal," had it? And they had had ordeals, real ordeals. Going to jail, people had been poisoned kind of ordeals. Life or death stuff. Literally!

But some pancake night? One dinner? One... he'd admit... slightly failed dinner? It wasn't anything to be this dramatic about.

He was trying to be nice! Trying to make one of Matthew's favorite foods knowing he would be coming home late! Furthermore, they hadn't been that bad. They hadn't been burnt (to a crisp, but like, a little blackness never killed anyone). They'd been fluffy (enough). And they'd been... edible. So.

Day 2: Call to Adventure

Here's a concept for today, instead of some writing:

So, fantasy AU, classic adventure set up. Where there's this prophecy (foretold by the prophet/seer Feliciano) about Prince GIlbert falling in love and overcoming some great evil.

And Feliciano is so incredibly annoying about this prophecy. At every moment he's like "remember that you're gonna fall in love." Gilbert is so sick of this stupid prophecy that by the time Matthew comes to him (asking for his help) Gilbert is incredibly resistant to even being friends with him.

But, of course, as they travel together (with Gilbert being so incredibly rude for reasons that Matthew does not understand) Gilbert slowly begins to fall for him, but he's made it complicated by being an asshole. So there's drama.
