Ehehehehe. We have a couple (This is just the timeline doc, not any kind of fic)
RIGHT! Your question. So far in the au, Rainbow has died twice
A bit of context first though. Becoming Rainbow Steve works a little different in this au! When Seer became Rainbow in SL, instead of them getting a new look and a power boost, they... went dormant? Seer was no longer conscious, and a whole new person took their place. This person is Rainbow! This is also how it works for Light and Dark steve (ish), theyre their own people, with their "hosts" forced into the backseat.
OK. Rainbow has died twice
Their first death was with Seer as their host, after the demon war. I hold a hc that Seer is named for their foresight. They get visions and dreams of the future. Rainbow, who had Seers memories, technically had also seen these visions! Though didnt have any of their own. They can however, have nightmares of their hosts memories. Which is exactly what happened i think. Rainbow (who was still pretty young. Probably only been around for a few months atp?) had a nightmare of Void's actions, knew from Seer's that this was a vision of the future, and rushed to stop it.
However again. They were young, and panicking, and now also rushing. They made alot of mistakes. One of said mistakes being: Charging straight into the Void Dimension and getting Seer possessed by darkness, creating Void Steve.
The crystals began to reject Seer as their host (Rainbow had only a small part in this? They knew they couldnt let Void take their power, but im not sure they quite meant to do That. The crystals just took Rain's intention and ran with it), and unfused with them just like in cannon. This however, also killed Rainbow, granting them their first death.
(This event also means that. They got to meet Seer for the first time, albeit briefly. Seer was already dormant by the time Rain was conscious, but the whole. Dying thing sorta woke them up. The two of them got to meet eachother for a few seconds before Rainbow was killed)
Second death was with Colle as their host! Once Colle found out about Seer and Void and whatnot, cannon continues mostly as normal, with Colle becoming the next Rainbow Steve. Except of course in this au, that just means reviving Rainbow, and Colle going dormant.
Rainbow did have a bit of a close call during Voids fight though. If you'll remember in cannon, Colle died and had to be revived by Origin (giving up his place in the world beyond in doing so). This still happened! But thanks to Origins interference, Rainbow didnt completely come apart before Colle started breathing again. This did also mean he was conscious for a few minutes though (dying woke him up, just like Seer), so he was able to kill Void and say goodbye to the people he loved (with Rainbows help. Colle didnt have any control over the body anymore)
After defeating Void, Rainbow returned to the other chromatic leaders to tell them of what happened. The death of the biome steves, of Genesis, and of the destruction of the Red Kingdom. The leaders still wanted their crystals back just like in cannon but. Well Rainbow knew now that that would kill him. And from his pov, he'd only died a few hours ago. He's terrified and tired and alone and still so young and he doesnt want to die.
So he flees! He gets the hell outta there! Too bad if you want the damn crystals back, he doesnt want to die. Besides, he can just help them! They dont need the crystals, they have him! Itll be ok

The other chromatic kingdoms are uh. Not too happy that their crystals have been made off with. But Rainbow is now the only living entity they know of who can fly! So whatre they really gonna do? Hunt him down anyway of course
I do think Rainbow survived for a good while this time around. Perhaps even building a small family of other chromatics (who teach Rainbow how to fully utilise his abilities. He knows how to use his Red powers fine due to being raised by the Red Elites + Goggles, but he hasnt really met the other chromatics)
(Important note, one of the steves he ends up with is the Blue Crystal Holder from RQ! He's called Donnie in this au :]. Hes also who i hc to be Seers friend mentioned a couple times in SL. Time doesnt work quite right in the spirit world, hes still around shhh)
He is also regularly still saving people while on the run btw. Every now and then A Problem will come up, and the kingdoms will put their manhunt on hold so Rainbow can come in and fix the problem/ kill a bbeg/ whateverthefuck. Straight back to hunting him down after that though (Also non zero chance some of The Problems were straight up traps set by the kingdoms to catch Rainbow. Since they knew he'd come to help them regardless of risk to himself)
Anyway. Sooner or later, Rainbow does infact get caught by the kingdoms. I dont know if there was a trap, an ambush or a betrayal but. Rainbow is taken apart again, and the crystals are redistributed among the chromatics
(This also killed Colle btw. The crystals are POWERFUL, and Colle had SEVEN of them fused with him. That is ALOT of energy to lose at once. It basically sent him into an unrecoverable downward spiral. The leaders didnt take the knowledge that they killed the last red steve very well)
Third Death! Undecided :) But do not worry! @eth3alflame and i are working together to make it as painful as possible :)
