Agnostic.  I would have been ok with Spike/Fred or Spike/Illyria, if AtS had chosen to go that way, but I’m also fine with them being just friends. I’ve read some Spillyria I liked, and some that left me going bleh.  Illyria is difficult to write well.  Even when the writer is up to it, much of the Spillyria fic that I’ve read has been about Spike being Illyria’s pet in one sense or another, and that’s not really a kink of mine.  (I’m fine with Illyria THINKING Spike is her pet, but when she actually controls his life, to me it ceases to be hot and becomes squicky.)   

As to the older stuff,  there is a lot of great Spike and Spuffy meta recommended at buffyversetop5  LJ community.
