sorry im still not over this even though it was like 4 hours ago. was having an issue accessing company spreadsheets on sharepoint via browser so had to get the IT guy's help and apparently the reason was because i was using duckduckgo. which the IT guy then told me was a search engine "primarily associated with the dark web" and that i should use google and google chrome. like are you kidding me

so like I'm taking the big botany ID test later this year and keep wigging myself out about it bc oh god what if i get there and forget every plant in the world but also like my coworker posts a pic of some yellow fuckin asteraceae i swear I've never seen before and then i think "coltsfoot?" and i look it up and it's coltsfoot. which ive never actually seen before. like christ maybe i Will be alright

ever debating whether or not to just like. start posting my abundant and varied au bullshit here. bc like there are so many Ideas and Concepts and i am never fucking getting around to doing anything with even a fraction of them but maybe if i release them into the wild they might finally be exorcised from me and go infect someone else instead so i can rotate the most ingrained ones faster

i hate this fucking SITE they are doing this just so unfathomably bizarrely it's starting to feel actively and purposefully malicious. they've hired us to write two reports and summary text to be put into a different report by a different company, and there's a third company who's been doing the actual surveys, some of which date back to 2023 and since which the guidelines have changed and really should've been updated. and even of our reports, a fourth company did a previous one several years ago that we had to then work around and attempt to be consistent with, and then my colleague did one of the two and i did the other bc they gave us an original turnaround of like two fucking weeks from survey to submission. so there's irreconcilable inconsistencies fucking everywhere bc nobody knows what anybody else is doing until it's submitted, and mostly nobody reads anything even when it is submitted bc who has the fucking time, and it is driving me insane

i tell boss it will be a struggle to get this report done by the 17th (surveys aren't even complete until 8th at the earliest, not to mention processing and analysis). boss tells client we will aim for the 17th. client tells us they want everything by the 6th at latest. "apologies for putting you and your colleagues under this pressure" like more genuinely and wholeheartedly than i have ever said it before, go fuck yourself with a cactus
