In the past few weeks I’ve been to a few protests against the end of DACA and against ICE’s tactics / rallies on behalf of all undocumented immigrants. I’ve been bringing the sign on the left.
In response to some posts I’ve seen from dreamers and other immigrants about how hurt they are when “allies” make no arguments for their rights except “look what they contribute to society!” I added the words in the left pic to the back of the sign. It makes sense to have a front and back anyway, since otherwise you have to decide whether to make your sign face the street where cars are passing or face the speakers and rest of the rally attendees.

worried about the public health implications of the current protests. I’m with them wholeheartedly, but there is still very much an active pandemic going on, and black americans have some of the worst COVID health outcomes already. Stay safe, wear a mask, wash your hands, don’t go out if you or someone in your household has a cough and fever, don’t put yourself and others at risk if you can help it
glad to have all my friends around to talk things out with. It’s not my place to do more than speak up in my community, but I’m glad I can support the people I’m already close to

The middle photos are from this past Saturday, when we attempted to deliver a letter that was written and signed by over 300 people -- including a lot of local faith leaders -- to ICE. They didn’t answer the door, but the leaders are going to deliver it today or tomorrow. In the one pic, the person on the right in all black with white hair walking back from the ICE building is my pastor, Mamie.
