Today's absurdity: I expressed the MILDEST amount of interest in this college in high school, but never applied. Several years later, when I have already earned two separate degrees, now they wanna follow up and invite me to tour campus? I am so perplexed! Y'all are so late! How does your prospective student mailing list become seven years delayed???
Med School is going to be great! Just gotta apply.
Greetings! When I was in high school I made my college application list based around who had the best creative writing programs, and I ...

My sister came to Elsewhere eight years ago and disappeared. My sibling came three years ago and never returned. Today I received a letter from the Elsewhere University Admissions Office after all of my other letters disappeared.
You still donât have to attend, however much Elsewhere wants you. Reach out to your other prospective universities by phone or email, which are less subject to this kind of interference. You have options. There must always be a choice.
The next year after Audrey Burgetâs terrible treatment from Steve Pettitâs new-and-improved Student Life Division, after the GRACE reportâs release, and after Steve Pettitâs assurance that BJU was safe. . . . and after BJU had hired a shiny new âDirector of Student Care,â a young man from outside South Carolina enrolled at Bob Jones University,
WutBJU found his online diary hours after he had published it on Monday, September 28, 2015 at approximately 9pm. WutBJU reached out to the young man immediately and sent him names of safe adults in Greenville he could confide in if he chose to do so.
What was this studentâs First-Year Experience at Bob Jones University?
He was in despair -- despair caused by the Steve-Pettit-sanctioned Student Life Division. His Admission Counselor convinced him he was a âgood fitâ for BJU, but when he got to BJU his dorm counselor convinced him âthe longer I stay here the less religious I want to be.â
To this student who had been at BJU just one month, the rules were impossible to follow and focused on nothing but the institution.
He listed out his campus rule violations from that first month:
I watched TV.
I watched American football and ice hockey games.
I watched movies.
I listened to music.
I played video games.
And (the straw that broke the camelâs back of all things) I took a piece of pizza from the community fridge.
Taking that piece of pizza meant that he would have to be in weekly counseling --Â âspiritual probationâ is the campus word for it.
Can you live like that? Do you want to?
BJU has expanded its net for prospective students. It has managed to convince a new group of high school seniors and their parents that BJU will be a âgood fit.â
This young man from 2015 was the same. His parents didnât go to BJU; he wasnât a legacy student. And how did he feel after one month? That the people around him were âland minesâ ready to go off, but he had to stay because he needed âa good education.âÂ
You can read this studentâs entire diary entry here.Â
Read it and ask yourself, âIs BJU really for me? Do I want to have an education in dodging âland minesâ? Or do I want an education where I learn how to live a good life?â
If you want to grow and be your whole self, BJU is not for you.
