You are definitely not alone here. I’ve been thinking about this a lot. There are even interviews with Gamble after she killed off Cas where she talks about how she wanted season 7 to be about the boys grieving and dealing with his death that were... almost word for word what she then said about season 5 of The Magicians. I would link but I don’t have the spoons to go searching for sources right now. Like she is literally just recycling her own garbage at this point only making it so much worse by having a mentally ill queer character commit passive suicide?????

Which... god. Imagine recycling your own tired nonsense that you know didn’t work last time and possibly got you fired and then MAKING IT WORSE by piling on a shit load of harmful tropes that have actual real life consequences for your mentally ill queer fanbase. And then... expecting praise from those fans. And pumping up your own ego so big that it can be seen from space in pre-finale interviews because you really think this garbage is something FRESH and NEW and NEVER DONE BEFORE.

And I am full of so many conflicting feelings about other aspects of this right now that it breaks my heart. Because I love Eliot and Hale SO MUCH and I want to enjoy the little things like Grief Beard and this apparently v emotional scene between Eliot and Alice in 5x04 but... it’s all been tainted by what they did to Q and the fact that Q IS NOT THERE and he will never be there again and they cannot be trusted to follow through on their own narrative so everything is ultimately meaningless and whenever I start to allow myself to feel even a teeny tiny bit excited about certain things my own brain slam dunks me back to reality with immediate Dread.
