"Vs. Ridley", originating as "Big Boss Confrontation BGM (Ridley, Draygon)" in Super Metroid, is a fast-paced, melodically simple but rhythmically crazy, threatening boss theme that over time has become the motif of Samus's archenemy, Ridley. It is a well-loved theme and is perfectly blood-pumping for battles against "the cunning god of death" and for hectic races out of exploding facilities.

For this remix, Prophetik takes the interesting tack of putting the iconic song into 4/4, despite it's wild time signature. While the composers of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption did something similar for the remix "Vs. Omega Ridley", "Cave Dweller" uses a different rhythm for the main melody and otherwise hews much more closely to the song as it originally appears in Super. The remix is done in a minor key with a vaguely Eastern flavor. New additions include an alto melody to complement the original bass motif and crazy solos on Prime-esque synths. Elements from Prophetik's previous remix, "Ashes to Ashes", such as the electronic style, return here.

Despite the end result being very different from the original "Vs. Ridley", "Cave Dweller" hits all of the highs of the original, keeping the menacing tone and driving beat. The 4/4 time signature is so different from the shifting original that it perfectly replicates the off-balance sensation of the original song. This is another remix that you can tell was inspired by early 2010s electronic music. Those elements are used to bring variety to the song and are a great fit for "Vs. Ridley". All in all, this remix has a delightfully distinct vibe from the original while perfectly capturing Ridley as a sinister, slithering, unpredictable enemy who jumps from zero to 60 to the beat.
