āSAGESSE (WISDOM)ā
by Spear
Using art āas a way to give a social and humanist messageā Spear splits his work between inside and outside and his time between working at home in Brussels and traveling the world. Spear says his travels help expand his awareness of different social realities, lifestyles, and values. When traveling he says his outdoor work serves as an icebreaker and allows him to create meaningful relationships with locals, and in turn the lessons of the road breed inspiration for his work back home. Spear says he is fascinated by the techniques and powers of narration of the old mastersāevident in this 2015 work on Rue de Namur in Brussels. This wall was organized and supported by Propaganza, a Belgian collective of about 20 artists with diverse specialties and styles.Ā @spear_paintingsĀ @propaganza_urban_artists

āLIVE WITH MEā
by Nean
As with many of his fellow artists Brussels native Nean is completely self-taught, but unlike a lot of them he did not start in out in graffiti, turning to spray paint only after first creating on paper. With the newly discovered world of aerosol however, he quickly developed a passion for portraits, and while he still creates work for galleries Widewalls says āstreet work is where his creative magic truly occurs.ā With work that often explores issues of time, memory, and the human concept of losing time, Widewalls concludes that while the gallery work is marvelous to look at, it doesnāt pack the same punch as the walls, on which the messages only become more profound as the paint grows old and weathered. A member of the Propaganza collective since 2014, Nean painted āLive With Meā in 2017 in the heart of Brussels on the Rue du MarchĆ© aux Poulets.Ā Ā @nean_kingdomĀ @propaganza_urban_artistsĀ @wdwllsĀ @visitbrusselsĀ Ā

āINTERFACESā
by Nean
āThe moments we live, the people who cross our paths, the places we pass, determine our memories. But this past . . . changes, fades, melts or evaporates.ā Belgian artist Neanās hauntingly beautiful paintings use color deviations and often double exposures to explore issues of time and memory, and the aging of the wall only adds to depth of his artistic statements. Self-taught like many of his urban art peers, Widewalls reports that Nean started working on paper, but when he discovered aerosol he quickly developed a passion for portraits. In 2014 Nean joined Propoganza, a collective of approximately 20 painters from Belgium, France, Spain, and England, and his style, somewhere between experimental and photo-realistic, helped his work stand out right away. This piece is at the corner of Rue Ravenstein and Baron Horta in Brussels, Belgium. Ā @nean_kingdomĀ @propaganza_urban_artists
