𝐬𝐡𝐞'𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞. alice had to come first, and she couldn’t risk another near miss. she nearly got caught, nearly went to jail. and for what ? another job ? she didn’t really need it. she’d worked enough before her daughter, she could put alice through college now if she wanted, twice over even. so jett had done what she had to do to get out. a clean slate. was she bored ? absolutely. did she regret it ? -- no. alice was worth it. and it’s not like she did nothing all day. she was a bartender during the night, and jett may not hunt professionally anymore but she kept up to date, her burner always within reach. that’s why she’s not surprised to spot john in her bar, seated in the corner -- she’d have sat there too. ‘ you’re worth enough to last through retirement for me and alice, did you know that ? ‘ she pours him a drink before she leans forward against the bar, the corners of her lips slightly curved and her arms outstretched, head cocked to the side, brow quirked. ‘ of course you did, you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t. ‘
