Evaluation: Promo Project
My task was to put together a promo video in the theme of our choice. As i decided on the theme music for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. I knew that I wanted something that fleet that it was fun with the tempo of the whole video i wanted to give the feel that the is a lot to be excited for. I sort how Capital radio did there advert and I used the idea of having each artist having a bit to say. I knew at the beginning of each video they would get the artist to introduce themselves and let the views know that they are watching 'BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and to never miss another live lounge subscribe here'. I knew that this was something i could work with and originally I was going to promote the Live Lounge CD but I wanted to use the new live lounge music and in the advert for the old CD they have the old music playing underneath the voice over which is what I wanted to use. So instead I decide to promote the actual live lounge it self.
I would say that I am happy with the flow and pace of my video I feel that it's not too rush and with the clips i added I gives you a feel for whats to come. I have the beginning of my video start off quite slow as this is were i showed all my logos and then the paces starts to pick up as I have added clips of the live lounge performances and the also have the music change a few times at i felt it about different different artist coming to perform so only having one sound might tell the audience that it is only a certain type of music or they might not know that live lounge is about getting different artist to sing there own or cover of music that they appreciate.
My aim for the length was to get it to about 30 seconds as most music promos are about that long but as i started to edit I Felt that were i was at the moment has a good flow and I didn't want the promo to be to long or have the feel of it being longer that it needed to be. If I was going to change anything about my video I would have probably put a web url at the end or the another BBC Radio 1 logo.
idea
So I decided to to chose music as my theme for my promo and I had a few idea of what I could do. I was thinking I could do either SBTV, MTV, BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge or an artist's album promo.
I have decided on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge as this is a channel that I personally like to keep up to date with. I looked at the BBC radio 1 adverts and the capital radio adverts which all seem to average to about 30 seconds in length but some of the BBC radio 1 adverts were 20-40 seconds. I like how in the capital radio adverts the clips were cut with the artist coming up towards the camera to say a word or phase, they all had something different do say. which gave you the feeling for whats to come and by showing you the current artist that are out right now. I feel that watching these promos that it never feel like the promo is too long the cuts and music of the adverts seem to flow really well and even thought it seems like a quick advert you got all the information you need.

I looked at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge album advert witch i really like and watched to do an album advert for the new music that they had out this year but wanted the to used some of the voiceover but would of been able to unless I had the music from last year in the background.

BIG Ten Evaluation
I was given some footage and audio to put together a video for a Big Ten Promo. I would say that I did okay this the first task I felt that I picked the right music and the clips I chose were okay but I don't think I got the timing of the cut right. I would say that the video as a whole was a good length and but I should of add some sound of the the people cheering or just some audio from the sports clips as the video felt a little distanced to watch as which didn't get me excited for the event which I might of done if I felt I was more involved.
Research:

I decided to look at the Champions league football promo. In this promo the music is very graceful and they cut between shots the players/managers talking about this event to clips of the atmosphere of the champions league. I think for my Big Ten promo I want the music to be a bit more intense. in this promo the music was slow tempo and so where the cut i think a lot of the cut were in slow motion and even though the promo was 30 seconds i think it felt longer with the managers/player talking to the camera it seemed like they fitted in a lot of information for only 30 seconds.

This Sky Sports F1 promo has a slow build up of music but I like how the cuts are edited, as it gives the promo a fast paste feel to it also with the sound of the cars going by adds to the tempo of the promo. This promo is the same length as the Champions league football promo but because this doesn't have talking in it this F1 advert seems quick with less information but leaving the audience with the thought that 'it's back' or 'it that time of the tear again'.
