hot take - the worst part of Promicide isn't Pacey's meltdown, it's the "Pacey's a loser" set-up that has zero purpose other than to humiliate the character and make him look like an incompetent dumbass.
(hotter take - I think by this point in S4, I thought Joey was such a horrendous gf, I couldn't even be mad at Pacey for imploding. I was annoyed at how blatant the writers were in clearly wanting to put ALL the responsibility for the break-up on him, but after sitting through yet another "I'll never love anyone the way I loved you" Dawson/Joey scene, there was no way I was going along with it)
