Farmasetika.com – Novartis pada 11 Mei 2019 mengumumkan penarikan sukarela dari tiga lot Promacta (eltrombopag) 12,5 mg untuk suspensi oral ke tingkat konsumen di Amerika Serikat.

If you don't care, just move on from this post, but I know I have friends on here that are interested and caring and want to know what has been happening to me. So I figured I'd make a post explaining what has been going on. 

As most of you know, on January 4th, I was diagnosed with ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura). It's a blood disorder where my immune system destroys my platelets. Basically my blood doesn't clot and I bruise easily. 

I started a new drug on June 5th, called Promacta. This drug is meant to stimulate platelet production instead of shutting down my immune system from destroying platelets. 

My brother got married on June 15 and on June 16th, I woke up with a severe headache. It was similar to the headache I had over Memorial Day weekend, but this was a little different. It was only on the left side, split almost directly down the middle of my head. 

I went to the doctors on the 17th, and they tried to tell me I had a migraine possibly brought on by drinking during Drew's wedding. Please. 

They decided to send me over for a CT scan just in case. Right after I was done, the tech comes over and says they're admitting me to the hospital. I had no idea why. 

Basically, I have a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. It's the exact same thing Hillary Clinton had earlier this year and it's incredibly rare. There are about 3-5 cases per million people a year. The sinuses in my brain, which is where the used blood exits, is clogged. The clot is massive, starting just before my ear and extending all the way into my jugular. 

I'm hopefully going to be getting out of here on Monday, but I will be on blood thinners for about 6 months and I will have to go back for an MRI in a few months. 

The problem comes in with my ITP. My blood is already thinning because I don't have platelets, but I need to thin my blood more so this clot can dissolve. So now it's a battle of finding the right balance in everything. It's going to be an intense few months for me.
