We did it!! We all passed our Junior year of nursing school!
Through all of the tears, sleepless nights, and inhumane early mornings, we had each others backs. I love this group to death and can’t wait to dominate senior year with them!
I hope you’ll forgive us for the scarcity of posts from the last few months. We’re back in business now that we have al of this free time!
A little update on us at this point:
We’ve all just completed 4 different rotations - two of which happen together each semester. For one semester, we have Pediatrics and Obstetrics. The other semester, we have Mental Health and Advanced Med-Surg/Med-Surg II. The sad part is that all of us were grouped together except Gen :( Regardless, we did amazing even though we missed her the whole year!
Junior year at our school is notorious for the Pediatrics course that is so difficult that it holds people behind for another semester. However, we all feel very lucky for all of the tutors, office hours, and study guides that were available for support throughout the year.
Some of us have started seeing specialties we’re interested in. Nic and Gel have really gravitated towards Pediatrics and well, Ange has always loved OB so nothing has changed there. Hahaha. The rest of us are interested in intermediate or high acuity specialties like the ICU or Tele.
On top of everything else, some of us were offered jobs at amazing hospitals as nursing assistants! In our area, they’re either called CNAs (Certified Nurse Assistants) or Clinical Care Partners - both of which have the same role. Currently 4/6 of us are working and 2/6 are on their way!! Bry has actually just picked up a job as a CPR instructor! AMAZING!! He’ll share the story with y’all soon.
Working alongside being a full-time student has had it’s challenges but has overall given us opportunities to explore the roles of nurses and develop ourselves in the hospital outside of clinical. It has been so much fun (though very tiring for some of us evening/night shift folk).
We look forward to being on our account more often this summer! We plan on sharing some of our crazy experiences in the hospital as well stories or interviews with nurses we work with. Hope you stick around to join us!
