A short fic I made for Touhou!Zane related to @project-julien. Again, I'm not that good in fiction department so I'm sorry for any misspellings, redundancies, and grammatical errors. I made this fic basically to nerf his boundary manipulation powers so he doesn't come out too OP.
“DO NOT, under any circumstances, use the power of manipulating boundaries in any form, either material (teleportation, universe travel, object wrapping, sitting, etc.) or immaterial (manipulating the border of life and death, switching the border of speech and though, etc.)”
Zane Y. looked at the paper he held as he read the that sentence over and over, the rule that he had set ever since he's in this Void. Ever since OCs!Zane told him about the circumstances the Zanes are in as well as Misty and her Midnight Hunters, he figured he needs to limit his ability to manipulate boundaries as to avoid detection from the Hunters.
12 years. 12 years he had mastered the power to control gaps and now it is to be restrained. Even calling upon his shikigamis would be out of question, as he had left them both back in Gensokyo and bringing them here would mean opening another boundary to cross over. Now he's like nothing but his old Ice Ninja self plus water ability and danmaku bullets.
He sighed. “It's for the best,” the nindroid gap youkai thought, “else I’d put my brothers in danger just because of my power.”
Truth to be told, he happened to quickly like his other selves, which he affectionately referred as his brothers, ever since he got here. Maybe a bit of an awkward introduction at first, but he grew to get along with them in a short time. He could have easily go after the Hunters and destroy them with his power of boundary manipulation, but what would it worth if his brothers are hurt in the process? No, he ain't risking it. It would be a shame if he endangered them just because he's careless with his gap manipulation ability.
He might be trapped in a foreign place but he couldn't care any less. For now, he had nothing to worry about. Well… aside from Yukari crushing him with an abandoned train from the Outside World if he ever got back to Gensokyo. She would definitely be mad once he get back home. And… Oh God, did he just left little Chen unsupervised?! Ran's gonna kill him!
Staring blankly at the wall in horror, he quickly shook his head to get rid of those unnecessary thoughts. He cannot change the past (that would be Keine's ability), but he can prepare for the future. If anything bad happens to his brothers, he would be the first to step up to defend them. A bit of a gamble, yes. But it us better than doing nothing.
He breathed a sigh again and folded the paper before putting it in his pocket. For now, he had nothing to do but to get to know more about the other Zanes except maybe Classic, who was his former self, and Titanium, whom he consider as his other self ever since he found out about his existence in Ninjago. Probably making some dine as well, because he felt hungry. Do they have something to cook? He's looking forward to making another Kusaya jam. He made his way to the fridge and opened it to inspect if anything is worth being consumed.
