(We think a lot about what’s in the museum and out of the museum, and the idea that the exit to the Museum of Capitalism is the entrance into the real Museum of Capitalism.)」(What Would a Museum of Capitalism Look Like? By Anna Wiener, The New Yorker)。
The Museum of Capitalism is an institution dedicated to educating this generation and future generations about the history, philosophy, and legacy of capitalism, through exhibitions, research, publication, collecting and preserving material evidence, art, and artifacts of capitalism, and a variety of public programming. The museum’s programs result from collaborations between a network of researchers, curators, artists, designers, filmmakers, writers, economists, historians, scientists, and non-specialists from all walks of life, including those with direct experience of capitalism. The Museum’s inaugural exhibition will appear in Oakland, California in 2017.

On this week's episode of my podcast, Scratching the Surface, I'm talking to one of my all-time favorite designers and design thinkers Prem Krishnamurthy. Prem is the co-founder and a prinicpal at Project Projects and founder and curator at P!, an experimental gallery in Chinatown, New York. Prem's work, both at Project Projects and P!, has had a profound influence on my own work and career. I wrote about the identity that studio designed for SALT when I started graduate school last year and how it changed how I thought about design so it was exciting for me to visit Prem at Project Projects's office back in August to talk about how he thinks about his work, using the studio as a platform for intellectual curiosities, and the intersection of his design, curatorial, and writing practices. The episode ends with a great conversation on literature and the authors Prem enjoys and is influenced by that makes for an excellent reading list.
