During these workshops, we will teach participants how to tie dye and then we will make the fabric up into earrings, cards and pin cushions to sell and raise money for the charity. Another aspect of this project will be to create a community patchwork out of the drawings also done at the café. This will be hung in a communal space in the café, brightening up the room and giving back to the community and those who took part in our workshops.

Context:

The context of this project is to give back to the community and to give back to those in need, teaching them a new skill and offering a calm and relaxing activity where they can enjoy themselves. There are members of our community who are living in difficult situations and art therapy is a very beneficial way of helping those in need.

Audience:

Our target audience for this project is anyone who visits The Mission Café, and who attends the Thursday afternoon art group during our sessions. Also, the earrings, cards and pin cushions that we are selling are to be sold to students and lecturers who pass through the Student Union (SU).

The main aims for this project are to host a couple of fun workshops for those who visit the café and to raise some money for the charity.
