2. Washington judge blocks Trump’s gender-affirming care ban, says it's unconstitutional in multiple ways
“This marks the second time in a week that a judge has stood in the way of Trump’s attacks on trans kids. 3. Fog harvesting could provide water for arid cities
“17,000 sq m of mesh could produce enough water to meet the weekly water demand of [… the] urban slums. 110 sq m could meet the annual demand for the irrigation of the city's green spaces. Fog water could be used for soil-free (hydroponic) agriculture, with yields of 33 to 44lb (15 to 20kg) of green vegetables in a month.”
4. Audubon Applauds Bipartisan Federal Effort to Protect Delaware River Basin with Critical Reauthorization Bill
“The bill would […] ensure long-term conservation and restoration efforts, expand the official definition of the basin to include Maryland, and prioritize projects that serve small, rural, and disadvantaged communities. […] The watershed provides important year-round habitats and critical migratory stopovers for approximately 400 bird species[….]”
5. mRNA vaccines show promise in pancreatic cancer in early trial
“Half of the people in the study — eight of the participants — responded to the vaccine, producing T cells that targeted their tumors. 6. Minn. Lt. Gov. Flanagan Makes It Official; She's running for U.S. Senate

8. Modeling study suggests Amazon rainforest is more resilient than assumed
“[Previous] studies were either conducted with global climate models that used a simplified representation of convection [or were on a regional scale….] According to the computations, mean annual precipitation in the Amazon does not change significantly even after complete deforestation.“
9. States are moving forward with Buy Clean policies despite Trump reversal
““Buy Clean is a great example of how states and other nonfederal actors can continue to press forward on climate action, regardless of what the federal government does,” said Casey Katims, executive director of the U.S. Climate Alliance, a bipartisan coalition of two dozen governors.”
10. The rewilded golf courses teeming with life
“A wildflower meadow, ponds, scrub habitat, coastline and even an area of peat bog can be found on this little 60-acre (24-hectare) plot, which boasts roe deer, otters, lizards, eels and a huge array of insects and birds.”

You lay in bed until 10 am, again. You graduated high school a few weeks ago, your boyfriend broke up with you, and all your friends moved away already.
You were stuck.
Bored.
Alone.
So you decided to spend your days in bed, being lazy. You had already finished a few shows, a few books, and a few drawings in your sketchbook.
Your parents were sick of seeing you rotting in your room.
When you finally came down for breakfast at 10:34 am, your dad suggested you start looking for a job.
“To, you know, start saving money up for college.” Dad suggested. Your mom nodded next to him, like it was the best idea ever.
“Like where?” You asked, bored. You poured a massive bowl of cereal and milk. You sat at the table and dove in. Cold, wet milk dribbled down your chin as you crunched on the cereal.
“Well, your father was thinking you could work at the country club.” Mom said. You went to protest but she raised a hand to stop you. “Before you say no, let me explain. Your father attends the club, and so does some of his friends. They could watch over you and help if you need anything. Plus, it'd be a decent paying job.”
“Just… think about it?” Your dad said, placing a hand gently on your shoulder. “We just hate to see you hurting, sweetheart. Your life isn't on pause just because of… recent events.” He put it lightly.
“Colen cheated on me. I never said my life was on pause.” You growled, feeling your heart shatter again just from memory.
You remember sneaking into his room one morning. You got back early from a FFA trip and were going to surprise him for his birthday. You peeked in his dark room and your heart squeezed. Scattered on the floor were various candles of different scents, and rose petals. You beamed and stepped in the room.
“Oh, Cole.” You said softly. You heard the shower running. He must be in the shower, you thought. So you climbed on his bed and waited.
A few minutes later, Colen opened his bathroom door. He froze when he saw you, because right behind him?
Was your best friend, Emily, in only a towel.
Your heart shattered.
Now back in the present, you pushed the thought out of your mind. You stirred your soggy cereal around in the milk. “Fine… I'll… sign an interest form.”
You disappeared upstairs and pulled up the counter club's website. They were hiring a cart girl. You scrolled through the description, nodding slightly. It seemed easy enough; you got paid to drive around, pick up balls, hand out water, etc. They pay minimum wage, but tips can bump up your pay depending.
You click on the form and type up your information. Name, birthday, references, and times you're able to work.
The next Saturday, your dad brought you to the country club with him. He ruffled your hair. “Im going to the golf course, kiddo. Good luck on your interview, yeah?”
You smiled, “thanks, dad. Im actually pretty excited.” You wore a nice blue dress and heels. Looking appropriate for the interview was your top priority. You even spritzed yourself in your vanilla perfume.
Your dad smiled and gave your shoulder a reassuring squeeze. He disappeared outside towards the golf course. You turned and began navigating through the halls, looking for conference room A12.
You turned a corner and bumped into a broad chest. “Oof!” You grunted. You stumbled back and fell on your ass. The man immediately began apologizing in a voice you recognized. The man helped you stand, putting a steadying hand on your waist.
You raised your eyes, meeting the green eyes of Beau Arlen. The local sheriff, and your dads best friend. “Beau! Oh my gosh!” You laughed, a little dizzy from the fall. “I am so sorry. I just turned the corner and you were there.”
Beau chuckled and patted your hip. He pulled his hand away and stuck it in his pocket. “You're fine, darlin’. Where's your old man, at?”
You waved your hand in the direction of the golf course. “Out golfing. We just got here.”
“Golfing? Why ain't you out with ‘im them?” Beau asked, leaning against the wall.
“I have an interview. Im trying to become the new golf cart girl.” You said, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Oh, right.” Beau nodded, rubbing the back of his neck. “Cart girl?” You nodded and he nodded again. “Well, I hope you get it, hun.” Then he, too, disappeared down the hall.
A few days later you got the call back saying you got the job. They gave you the dress code: a nice shirt or polo shirt, a skirt, and tennis shoes.
Then next morning you woke up early enough to get ready. You curled your hair, applied simple make up (mascara and lip gloss), and got dressed in the right attire. You sprayed a different perfume today. You selected a dragonfruit one. You grabbed a fanny pack and filled it with things you might need for the day: your wallet, car keys, extra lip gloss, and gum.
You skipped downstairs, your curls bouncing with every step. Your mom smiled and wiped her hands off on a dish towel.
“There's my working girl. How're you feeling this morning?” She asked softly, gathering you in a warm, tight hug.
You smiled, smushed against her chest. “Im feeling great, mom. Really great.” You pulled back and smoothed your hair. “Wheres dad?”
“Already out to work, but he told me to tell you good luck today. Being a cart girl isn't hard, but some men can be…” Your mom searched for the right word.
You rolled your eyes and smiled, “complete dicks?”
Mom giggled and sighed, “yes… that word.”
The car started up with ease. You pulled out of the driveway and to the local coffee shop for breakfast. You pulled into the drive-thru. You ordered your usual breakfast, a burrito and medium caramel latte. You pulled up to the window and froze when you saw your ex best friend, Emily.
“Oh my god.” Emily said, clutching her necklace. “I never thought I'd see you again! You haven't answered any of my calls or texts!”
You sat there in your car, absolutely dumbfounded. Your mouth was wide, gaping at her in utter shock. Then pure rage. “Ignoring you?! Of course I've been ignoring you. You helped my boyfriend cheat on me.”
Emily rose her hands up in surrender. “Okay! I did, but- but hear me out!-”
“No. Forget it.” You drove off without paying or receiving your food.
Today was supposed to be great. You were starting a new job at a nice place. You weren't supposed to see your ex best friend who helped your ex cheat on you. You felt a heavy weight on your heart. You bit your lip hard and tried not to cry.
You arrived at the country club and had to pretend everything was okay. You nodded and smiled at your boss as he explained what to do.
“And the drinks go in here-” he pointed towards the cooler at the back of the cart. “You said you were 18, correct?” You nodded. “Right, so you cant distribute alcohol. Just tell the boys either get it themselves or Penelope will be around in a half hour. Okay?”
“Penelope?” You asked, taking the keys from his hand.
“Yeah. She's been working with us for about a year. She's old enough to distribute alcoholic drinks.” Your boss winked, then sent you on your way.
You loaded up sodas and waters in the cooler in the back of the cart. You closed and padlocked it, then rounded to the front seat. You started the engine and it purred to life. You pulled out slowly, getting used to the controls. They were fairly easy to use, like a lawn mower.
The first group you pulled up to included Beau and a few other guys you didn't recognize. You pulled up a few feet away. They turned and smirked like wolves when they saw the new cart girl.
“Hey, darlin’.” Beau jogged over, golf club still in one gloved hand.
You hopped out of the cart and smiled. “Hey, Beau!”
“Glad to see you got the job.” Beau pulled you in a tight hug. You giggled and hugged him back. He pulled back and ruffled your hair. “You got any Busch?”
You shook your head and grabbed the key for the cooler. “Nah. Jason says I can't give out alcohol. He says if you want some you'll have to wait for Penelope.” The men groan, like either they cant wait or they don't like her. “I have Pepsi, Coke, Dr. Pepper, sprite, and water.” You turned, waiting to take their orders.
One guy ordered a Pepsi, no tip.
Another ordered 2 waters, he gave yo a dollar for a tip.
Beau ordered a Coke. He gave you a 10 dollar tip and a wink.
“Oh my gosh, Beau! You shouldn't have!” You gasped, clutching the crumpled 10 in your palm.
Beau shrugged, “keep it. It'll help get ya started.” He took a swift from the coke and sighed like it was refreshing.
The next day the same thing happened. Beau ordered a drink, and tipped you a good amount. He winked as he took a sip of the cold drink. You blushed and got back in your cart, driving away to the next group.
One day Beau gives the excuse he is dehydrated and needs a ride back to the club. You let him join you in the cart. He hops in and teases you for your “bumpy driving”. You giggle and roll your eyes.
You popped over a hill and saw two familiar forms. You froze, accidentally stuttering on the brake. Beau jolts, hitting the dash.
Beau chuckled, “easy, kiddo. Don't need to go flying through the windshield.” Then he sees your pale face. He softens, “hey… hey, kiddo. What's wrong?”
You shook your head and sped right on past. Getting closer you could see Colen and Emily more closely. They were holding hands, golfing, laughing together. They see you sped by and try to wave.
Beau senses the tension. He doesn't speak on it. He stays silent for once.
You get to the club in record time. You park and unbuckle. Storming inside, you completely forget about Beau.
“Darlin’! Darlin’, wait up!” Beau hollers, chasing after you. You run into an empty conference room, coincidentally the same room you had your interview in days before. Beau follows you inside, shutting and locking the door behind him. “Alright, kid, what the hell was that?”
“M-My ex…” You said, hands shaking. You sat down on the edge of the table. “My ex cheated on me with my best friend, and they’re out there right now! They’re just… Just golfing! Like nothing happened.” You run your hand through your hair, tugging with anxiety.
“Hey. Hey!” Beau rushed over and gently put his hands on top of yours. “Baby girl, stop. Stop.” He gently tugged your hands out of your hair. Beau buried his fingers in your hair, gently stroking through the curls. You shuddered at the new, foreign feeling. Colen never did anything like this with you.
That’s when it hit you.
Colen only ever wanted you around for hookups or to show off to his friends. He only wanted you around to say he had a girlfriend. To get his rocks off. “Beau, he only wanted me… for dick reasons.” You whispered. Beau shushed you gently, pulling you into a tight hug. “I should have known… I was so stupid.”
“Hush, baby… You’re out now. That’s what matters. He was a bad guy for you. You deserve better.” Beau said, gently stroking your hair.
“Like who, Beau? I’m nerdy, weird, and-” He smashed his lips against yours. You gasped, your eyes wide with shock. Then you kissed him back just as hungrily. Beau lifted you off your feet and into the air. You wrapped your legs around his waist, holding yourself up.
Beau set you on the edge of the table. “Baby girl… You deserve so much better than that brat.” You heard him unbuckle his belt. “I’m gonna make you forget that dumb son of a bitch.” He shucked off his jeans, then tugged your skirt down. “What color are you, baby?”
“Green.” You whimpered, hips twitching. Your pussy squeezed around nothing and soaked your panties.
“Good girl,” Beau muttered. His phone buzzed, and he sighed. He shot you a look as he answered it. “Hello, Sheriff Arlen here.” His thumb pressed on your clit through your panties. He began slowly circling the wet nub as he talked on the phone.
Your eyes watered and rolled back with pleasure. You tried to stifle your moan, not wanting the person on the other end of Beau’s phone call to hear you.
Beau scoffed and rubbed your clit faster. You moaned into his neck, and he swatted your ass. He covered the speaker on the phone. “Behave.” He growled into your ear. You whined and earned yourself another ass swat. He uncovered the speaker. “Yeah, I hear ya.” You recognized your dad's voice on the other end of the phone. You flushed; now you really had to be quiet. If your dad knew you were having sex with Sheriff Beau- his best friend!- at your new job, he’d kill you.
Beau kept rubbing those sweet circles on your clit as he talked to your dad on the phone. The panties were soaking and sticking to his finger as he rubbed. He pulled his fingers back and covered the speaker, knowing you were about to whine. When you did, he smacked your bottom again. “I’m adjusting, baby. Be patient.” He growled, reaching down to adjust himself in his boxers. He resumed the circles as before. You moaned and squirmed.
“Yeah… Yeah, if I see your daughter, I’ll tell her. Mmmkay. Bye.” Beau hung up, pocketing his phone. His eyes rose to meet yours. “Dad says your package arrived.” He said before shucking off his boxers and your skirt. “Now, be a good girl and keep quiet; they’re using the conference room right next door.”
