Just had a thought about a feature I only noticed when it failed: my bake-at-home bread rolls come in blister packs, 2x2. The two blisters are separated by a perforated tearing line (which today didn't tear). The thought is this:
This isn't advertised, it's not a selling point, nobody is going to switch bread roll brand over this, but it is nice that it is there. And somewhere, some packaging engineer thought "yes, let's put that in, it'll make things slightly nicer". That engineer probably wasn't motivated by profit to do so, the profit difference must be minimal, they just wanted to design something good. We don't need a profit motive.
