“How old are you?”

V seemed to find the question amusing for he chuckled slightly, his lips turning into a rectangular grin. It was too cute for his own good.

“I’m not married if that what’s you’re trying to figure out.”

Alex blushed at his statement, “I wasn’t–”

“But you were getting there.” He said and Alex wanted to wipe that smug look off his face. “All age questions do. But don’t worry, I’m not as old as you think I am.”

“27?” she guessed.

He shook his head challengingly, “Lower.”

“25?”

“23.”

Alex almost choked on her own spit at the discovery that her professor was merely two years older than her. “You’re kidding.”

“That’s the whole point of the whole Science genius thing.” He said, and Alex vaguely remembered him mentioning that during their little coffee date last weekend. “Graduated early, got a degree, took my masters, and now I’m here.” He said a matter of fact. “Simple math, Alex.”

“Are you married?” He asked all of a sudden and Alex flushed, suddenly finding his gaze to be too probing.

“What?! No!”

“Good.” He simply said and she caught a glimpse of a small smile on his face before turning and walking away.

“Good for what?” She asked in confusion as he walked farther away from her. “For me?”

V slowed before looking over his shoulder. 

“For the both of us.”
