The basis of making this strat working here is speed boosting the quad tank to one of the doorways on the point and pushing forward and taking the point with your size. Envyus (now the Dallas Fuel) famously took a quad tank approach all the way around the left side and walked onto the point from the side entrance. The team they were facing wasn’t playing junkrat (junkrat wasn’t buffed at the time) and they easily walked onto the point and took it for free. 

Horizon point A is another map setup in the same style for Quad tank.  You can speed them onto the point and take up free space. If you’ve watched an OWL in the last few months you’ll have noticed Junkrat almost has a 100% pickrate on defense for this map. Not only does he pre counter a quad tank attack he has the ability to get long distance picks with riptire and abuse the attackers long spawn.

I would like to point out how the objectives of each of these maps is nearly shaped and setup the exact same. 

This map is slowly diverging into its own quad tank triple tank meta.  This has been considered a non-Pharah map in the past and we are starting to see Pharah play on it.  This map is small but its hard to play on it as junkrat. He’s normally countered on the ground and has very few options for range or off to the side locations to spam from. 

But teams can still run in here with a junkrat and gain advantage against quad and triple tank. 

Another small box objective.  Great for quad tank. Even better for Junkrat. This is also a strong Pharah map. Triple tank with Mei or just normal well played quad tank has found some great ground here but its weakness still prevails in taking it down.

You cannot normally run quad tank for the entire length of a map. 

You will eventually get stopped, countered, or need to make a comp switch to better approach a situation on the map. Quad tank does one thing really well for you and another thing for your opponent. Quad tank FEEDS ults to your opponent. Absolutely hands them to the other team.  This is one of the biggest reasons you’ll see teams on defense roll out with a junkrat on maps that quad tank could be ran on.  It pre counters the comp. 

Early in stage 1 of the OWL the Shanghai Dragons would attempt quad tank at random.  Usually at the beginning of a map, fail, than swap to double hitscan dive (lol).  So basically they would walk out of spawn, hand half or even whole ults to there opponent, than reset there own ults by swapping heroes. 

This is the true weakness of quad and triple tank. If you start a round you walk out of spawn already pre countered you possibly forfeit the first half of the round. If you walk onto Lijiang Tower Control Center as quad tank and your opponent walks out as triple tank+junkrat you have to win that first fight or just hand them at least 50% of the point. If you walk onto Nepal Village with quad tank and they walk out with pharah and junkrat well ****.  

The utility of a Widow or Junkrat in the OWL is as comparable to old Tracer. Your useful in 99% of the situations. Widow only has 2 targets against quad tank but if she hits one it takes out its legs. If junkrat isn’t actively countering a quad tank he’s still walking spam damage and a “free” pick ult. And if they have a Widow and you don’t oh boy be prepared to stand behind some walls. 

We should be in a quad/triple tank meta.  But all the projectile spam heroes (junkrat, pharah, hanzo) are really messing with the current meta. Being able to just swap to Pharah and instantly bring value to a fight is game breaking.  Being able to setup as junkrat and just completely stop a comp from working. being able to run tanks into other tanks but have hanzo on your side to break them is too good. 

Only Moira can heal a lot of tanks at once. But only a trance can counter a grav (if even). But neither can res like Mercy.  If you use lucio for speed boost a zen and lucio can’t heal tanks adequately.  Double main healer can create a problem in ult management.  And you still won’t be able to counter the grav with double main healer. Variations of tank meta do better in tank meta right now.
