WHO: Lilly Anderson, Maverick Clarington, and Maddox Motta
WHEN: 2/7/17
WHERE: Lilly’s house and the hospital.
WHAT: Lilly invites Maverick over to hang out, and she drinks some wine, unaware that it’s been drugged, causing her to pass out. Maverick gets her to the hospital, where Maddox comes to see her.
Lilly had been so cooped up lately. It seemed that all she did was go to class and come back home. It was nice to have Maddox there, but she felt like a hermit, like she'd someone let the rest of her life completely slip away, and was too busy hiding out. But the past couple of days, she started going running again, going out for coffee, just slowly starting to the things she'd hadn't been doing recently. Maddox was going out tonight, somewhere, and Lilly took the opportunity to invite Maverick over. The last time she saw him was the day they argued in his office, and while they left things on fine terms, she didn't want to have that be the last time they hung out, she missed him. So she'd invited him over, and smiled when she got the text saying he was on his way. She'd taken a bottle of wine out of the fridge, letting it breathe while she waited, it wasn't one she recognized, it must have been something Maddox had bought, but it looked good, and she was interested to try it, so finally, she poured herself a glass, figuring she'd waited long enough. Lilly sipped on it slowly, sitting on her couch and flipping absentmindedly through a magazine as she waited for Maverick to arrive.
Maverick: hadn't been expecting the text from Lilly but it was more than welcome. He hadn't spent much time with the woman since that time in his office and quite frankly, he was sure that was the last they had really interacted. Granted, their disagreement was very short lived, even though his views and hers weren't exactly the same, maverick cared about Lilly and trusted her opinions. So, this is exactly why he was on his way over to her place and excited to catch up. It didn't take him long at all to arrive and before he knew it, he was already knocking on her door, hands in his pockets as he waited for her to answer
Lilly didn't know how long she'd been sitting there, but it wasn't too long, when she heard the knock on her door. Lilly stood from the couch, taking the last sip from her glass of wine as she answered the door. "Mav!" She said excitedly, as she saw him there, leaning forward to give him a hug, her arms wrapping around his midsection, not really waiting for permission, but she didn't think he'd mind. As she pulled away, she smiled up at him, "I'm so glad you decided to come over." She said, waiting for him to step inside, and then closing the door. Lilly headed towards the kitchen, the bottle of wine she was drinking from sat on the counter, and she poured herself another glass, "What would you like?" She asked, opening the fridge and looking in, "I have beer, wine, scotch, water, soda, juice, vodka...I mean, if it's alcohol, I probably have it." She said with a shrug, smiling at him as she took another small sip of her wine. She'd have to tell Maddox to buy more of it, it was pretty good.
Maverick: chuckled, greeting her happily as she instantly went on for a hug and he reciprocated by wrapped his arms around her and hugging in return. When he was led inadequate, he looked around for a moment before finding his way to the couch. "Thank you for inviting me" He said with a grin, slipping his coat off and folding it up, letting it rest on the arm of the couch. Maverick eyed the wine Lilly was drinking, debating of alcohol was even something he wanted at the moment before shaking his head. "A simple water will do" Maverick said with abother chuckle as he heard her name off several alcoholic drinks. "Is that all for you? I didn't take you as much of a drinker" Maverick teased her as he settled into his seat. "So tell me, how.have things been considering the circumstances?"
Lilly grinned as he thanked her, "I was afraid you wouldn't come, thought you'd be too busy doing dirty things to your girlfriend." She said, sticking her tongue out at him. She nodded as he requested a water, it was a very Maverick thing to ask for. Pulling a bottle out of the fridge, she held her glass in her other hand and hooked her finger around the neck of the wine bottle, carrying all three back to the couch and placing them on the coffee table in front of them. Lilly shrugged, not wanting to give him the impression that Maddox was turning her fridge into her bar, she'd always kept it well stocked, but only drank more than wine every so often. "I'm more into wine, but I like to drink harder things occasionally. Beer is good with pizza." She shrugged, sitting down next to him, as she leaned back, taking another sip from her fresh glass. "Honestly? Better than expected. Things have been very calm the past couple of weeks. No more weird stuff, and it's nice to be in my own home again. I mean, Maddox has been staying here, which helps it feel less scary. I know how you feel about him, but let's not argue, okay? I feel safe, that's what matters, right?"
Maverick: shoot his head, hiding his small blush when Lilly mentioned him doing things with penny. He wasn't stupid, they were all adults her and of course Lilly was to assume they did a lot more things than just enjoy each other's company, but still that didn't stop his reaction. "Lillith, don't be so crude" He chuckled softly, running his fingers through his hair. "Beer and pizza definitely have a distinct flavor" Maverick agreed, thanking her for the water and taking a sip of it. At the mention of Maddox he just nodded his head, she was right, as long as she felt safe, there was no need to argue. "Well, as safe as you can be with all this wine he buys you" more joked but smiled none the less, happy for the fact that Lilly seemed to be doing a lot better
Lilly grinned at his reaction, it was always funny to her how easily she could make him squirm. She'd come to realize it quite quickly when the two were teenagers, and she hadn't grown tired of it. She shrugged at his comment, "What, it's not like I said you were going to throat fuck her. I was discrete about it." She said, laughing softly as she took another sip. Okay, she was never one to let Maverick off the hook about this stuff, but that was a little extreme even for her. She could swear she was starting to feel drunk already. More than tipsy and straight to drunk, honestly. And she hadn't even finished a second glass. Lilly shook the feeling away, sighing as she looked at him. "He doesn't usually buy me wine, honestly. I mean, he does, but I'm generally pretty picky and don't let him. Though this one is one of his, and is definitely knocking me on my ass tonight." She said, laughing a little too hard, before clearing her throat, "Are you sure I can't get you anything else. She said, taking another sip from her wine glass to polish off her second glass, and deciding to set it down rather than pour another for the time being.
Maverick: 's eyes went wide at her next response and almost choked on his water in the process. He's always known Lilly to be one to tease him but my God, she was definitely being a lot more crude than he intended. "Well, I would hope you wouldn't say things like that." He shook his head at her but let it slide because she was obviously drinking and wasn't said with ill intention.. "it seems like he shouldn't be buying you any alcohol, you obviously can't handle it" He teased her some more, Lilly definitely looked like she was well on her way, though it didn't seem like she had been drinking at all. Maverick didn't think too much into though, considering he knew Maddox liked to party and the average alcohol content was never enough it seemed. "No no, I'm quite alright. Besides, someone has to stay sober in this conversation, yourethane pretty much drinking for the both of us" Maverick let out a small chuckle as he settled himself back on the couch. "So, no more surprises? Everything running smoothly as of late? "
Lilly laughed at his reaction again, though even she felt she'd crossed a line she wouldn't normally cross. She might have said that to Maddox, sure, but not Maverick. Lilly nodded at his comment, though usually she could, usually she could drink a bottle of wine before being at this level of intoxication, and it was strange, the wine didn't seem to be that strong. Still, she was lightheaded, and things around her were fuzzy. She could even tell that her thoughts were slurring, so she was sure that if she spoke, her words would be, too. "I haven't had that much." She argued, though it wasn't to defend herself, but more like she was arguing with herself, as if to tell herself not to feel so drunk because she hadn't had enough to drink to feel this way. She was only jarred from her thoughts when she heard Maverick speak again, and at his question, she stared at him blankly, trying to decipher it, her eyes darting back and forth between each of his as she contemplated what he was talking about. When it finally occurred to her, she shook her head, "Nothing." She agreed, though she was more concerned with the way she was feeling now, the confusion that seemed to be settling over her, the dizziness striking her as especially odd. "Maverick. I don't feel so..." She started, but trailed off, she didn't feel what? She didn't feel drunk, she knew that much, this wasn't drunk. It felt more like she was high, but that made no sense. Lilly picked up the bottle to examine it. Had Maddox bought some weird kind of weed infused wine? Except it wasn't that kind of high either. She was staring intently at the bottle, when she felt herself wobble forward, as she tried to steady herself, she looked around and realized she was falling forward. It was as if her whole body was moving in slow motion, all she saw was the coffee table coming to meet her face, or was it face moving to meet the coffee table? She wasn't sure, but she didn't have time to figure it out, because then everything black.
Maverick: like to consider himself a man who was very aware of his surroundings and right now he was aware of the fact that Lilly was definitely getting drunk at a lot faster of a rate than one normally would. Again, he didn't question it too much because she was a grown woman who could do as she pleased and he was there so it wasn't like she'd be drunk and home alone. Still, he couldn't help but notice that her words weren't coming out as clear as they had been, they were more of a slur if anything else as she attempted to respond to him. "Really? Because it sounds like you've had more than a few glasses" He raised his eyebrow up at her, watching her movements and the way she looked. He perked up at the sound of his name. Was she sick? Was she going to be sick? Maverick watched as she lifted up the wine bottle as if examining the contents, he was about to say something when a rattling outside made him turn his head. Had he not been distracted he would have seen Lilly leaning forward a little bit too much, on her way to making very close friends with the coffee table. Maverick turned back seconds too late as he just missed grabbing a hold of her before she went down. "Lillith!" Maverick sprang to his feet quickly, what had just happened?? He quickly moved the coffee table to the side, giving her room as he dropped to his knees to help her, his hand reaching back for his coat to grab his cellphone
Lilly groaned as her eyes fluttered open, before slamming shut again. Her head was pounding, like a hangover from hell. Had she been drinking? She couldn't remember, that probably meant yes. Whatever that smell was was making her nauseous, though that could have been the hangover too. Still it smelt unfamiliar, not like her room, not like Maddox, not like the things she was used to smelling. Lilly brought her hand up, to rub at the throbbing, only when she reached it, she couldn't stop herself from hissing in pain. That was not hangover pain, that was just pain, causing her eyes to fly open, which only sent her stomach spinning. It was then that she saw the bandages wrapped around her hand that was still holding her head. "What the fuck" She hissed, as her eyes opened wider, taking a second to register that she was in a hospital room. Her other hand was weighed down by something and as she looked, she realized it Maddox's hand holding hers, as he slept in a chair next to the bed. "Maddox!" She whispered, though she didn't know why as she pulled on his hand to shake him awake. She had no idea what was happening, the last thing she remembered was thinking about texting Maverick.
Maddox: hadn't planned on staying out for long. Just a quick catch up that ended up with having dinner and time just escaping him. He should have stayed with Lilly. He realized this when he gets a call that has him racing to the hospital faster than ever. God, he hates hospitals but hes not thinking about that as he stumbles through the doors. Maddox is worried, you csn see it in his face as he demands to be taken to Lillys room but it almost sounds like a plea. Once he's directed there, he wasn't exactly sure what to expect, he sees a man leaving her room and catches a glimpse and notices it was maverick, the one who card him prior. What the hell happened? Why wasn't he there to stop it? So many thoughts running through his mind as he sees Lilly laying there in that hospital bed and it hits him all at once like a crashing ocean. He can't lose her. Maddox pulls a chair close to her bed, opting to use that instead of slipping in bed with her for fear of hurting her. "Lils" He whispers, taking hold of her hand and laying his head down. All of a sudden he's being shaken awake and..did he fall.asleep? It's Lilly who's calling his name and heetc put a sigh for relief. "Fucking shit. Never do that the me again" He let's out, cuping her face in his hands, mindful not to disturb her. "Babe, what the fuck happened." His tone was soft, a lot softer than his normal tone usually portrays
Lilly stared at Maddox as he cupped her face, not sure what to say, because she really wasn't sure what she'd done, she didn't have a clue what had happened. She hated how scared he looked though, how sad. She'd seen him pretty broken up, seen him hurting, but it had never been because of her, causing her to swallow. When he asked what happened, she was taken aback, staring at him, her mouth hanging open slightly. "I-I don't know. I thought you would know!" She said, her voice cracking as her eyes filled with tears, the confusion and the pain in her head started to feel like too much. "All I remember is you going out, and I was thinking about texting Maverick to come hang out," She whispered, trying to pull Maddox closer to her, wanting him to somehow make things make sense, even if she knew he couldn't.
Maddox: couldn't really describe what he was feeling right now. He was angry, God was he angry. Why hadn't he just stayed home to keep an eye on her? Why hadn't maverick taking care of her? There were so many questions running through his head and lilly was looking to him for answers. "Hey, hey. We'll figure it out" He said to her softly, letting Lilly pull him in closer until he told her to sit back. He didn't care if it was allowed or not, he maneuvered his way onto the bed withoit hurting her and positioned himself so she could curl up into him. "Let's just wait for the doctors and see what they have to say" In truth, he would have already been hunting down the doctors, but after seeing Lilly in that state he couldn't just leave her, so he'd wait. They'd fond put together. "I've got you" the words slipped out on their own as they laid there in her hospital bed, Maddoxs mind scrambling to find the answers
Lilly let herself relax, just enough, when he told her to sit back, watching as he climbed onto the bed with her. She slid in as close as she could to him, realizing for the first time she was in a hospital gown, but it didn't matter. "How'd did I even get here, did you bring me here?" She asked, trying to figure anything out. Clearly he knew she was here, wether he brought her or someone had told him, she just didn't understand how one second she could be in her home, and then next here, as if it all happened instantly. Lilly looked up at him when he said he had her, nodding slowly. She didn't have to wait long before a nurse came in anyways, hurrying out to say she'd get the doctor. When he came back in, Lilly sat up a bit, but her arms never moved from where they were wrapped around Maddox. Though the nurse came over to her, beginning to check the stats on the machine she was connected to, before pulling out a pocket flashlight and making her follow the light. When she was done the doctor cleared his throat, asking about the last thing she remembered and when she answered he nodded, then went on to explain that she'd come in by ambulance, with Maverick, explaining what he told the doctors, and that she'd fallen, hitting her head on the table and cutting her hand and arm on the glass from the bottle, they also explained that they tested her blood and she had tested positive for GHB. When he mentioned Maverick, she recalled a fuzzy memory of laughing with him on the couch, but it was more than just hazy, and she was fighting so hard to make it more clear that she had tuned the doctor out. Maybe that was subconscious, maybe she didn't want to hear anymore once she heard GHB, knowing what it was usually used for. At least she had the comfort of knowing that she had been with Maverick, not at a random party, but it didn't explain how it ended up in her system. Though she had her ideas. When the doctor asked if she wanted to speak with the police, so they could file a report, she nodded. The police already knew she had a stalker, it was the only explanation for this, and her body went numb with that realization, things had been so calm, she had finally begun to relax and her stalker found some way to drug her. She didn't want to think about what would have happened if she hadn't invited Maverick over last minute.
Maddox: had barely even a moment to respond before the room was filled with a doctor and nurse, the woman mainly checking on Lillys vitals but he had no intention of letting her go or moving from her side. He waited and listened to everything the doctor had to say, in hopes of getting a clue, something anything. He knows ewe that she was with maverick, but Lilly trusted him completely and Maddox couldn't really believe that a guy like him would do something as low as that. So, what else? The wine? How in God's name did she get drugged then? His brain was rattling for answers and just couldn't come up with any. The fact alone made him even angrier but he tried to real himself in for Lillys sake. "Where did you even get wine?" It wasnt like Lilly didn't enjoy a glass every now and then, but he hadn't recalled buying any recently unless she had gone out and bought it herself. Either way, someone would have had to done it before hand if maverick had been with her the entire time. Then again, maddox had no idea how pulling off something like that would work in the first place. All he knew was that there was someone out there wanting to hurt Lilly and he'd die before he let that happen.
Lilly tried so hard to remember anything other than that one hazy memory. Maybe once she talked to Maverick she'd understand more, but right now, it was just blank. "I don't know." She whispered in response to his question. "I don't remember going to the store, but I could have. I really don't remember anything, Maddox." She said, frowning, wishing more than anything that she could. Except that as she said that, another memory came swimming back into her mind, "It was in the fridge." She said, looking up at him. "I was looking for a beer, and saw the wine sitting there, and I thought we were out, so I got excited. I figured you'd bought it." She said, and then went pale as she realized that Maddox hadn't bought it. Which means that someone else put it there. Someone else had been in her house. Someone else had been in her house and put a bottle of wine with GHB in her fridge for her to find. Lilly couldn't help the anger and the fear that swept through her, causing her to pull Maddox closer to her, a stray tear rolling down her cheek. "Jesus Christ, I'm such an idiot." She whispered.
Maddox: listened to Lilly as all the pieces started to form into place and the utter rage that ran through his body was almost uncontrollable, if he hadn't bought the wine and neither had her...that meant someone was in their house. Someone had gotten by the both of them and placed that wine there and God only knows what would have happened had lily not invited her friend over. This was getting to be too much. Maddox held onto her tighter, he couldn't let this happen but how was he supposed to stop it. "Hey, quit that shit, you're not an idiot" He said softly, cupping her cheek and sighing. "We're gonna figure this out, lils. I'm gonna figure this out. I'm not going to let anybody fucking hurt you." His words were serious as he stared at her. "Im..I'm fucking sorry that I left, I should have been there with you. I should have paid more attention m" Maddox shoot his head, using his thumb to wipe away her stray tear before pressing his lips to her forehead. "I've got you"
Lilly could feel his body tensing next to her, wish she could do something to soothe him, and then almost laughed at the idea she was in a hospital bed and just wanted to make him feel better, almost. She frowned at his words, her hand reaching up to feel the tender skin around her eye, where she must have hit the table, she hoped it didn't look as bad as it felt, but she hadn't noticed a mirror in the room to look, nor did she feel the need to move or be anywhere but in Maddox's arms right now. "I mean, that is the second time I thought something was from you and it wasn't." She whispered, staring into his eyes and then frowning when he said they'd figure it out. "I just don't get it. I don't get why someone would do this. Why me, I'm not even that great. I'm kind of whiney and annoying and stubborn." Though she didn't know why now felt like the best time to tear herself down, but when he started talking again she nodded. "You don't have to be sorry, Maddox. None of this is on you, you couldn't know this was going to happen. You've done so much for me, don't blame yourself for this okay?" She said softly, raising her other hand to gently comb her fingers through his hair behind his ear. When his next words hit her, she nodded. "I know you do, it's one of the reasons I'm so in love with you." She said softly, resting her forehead against his chest, and let out a little gasp. She hadn't meant to say that, not because it wasn't true, but because she didn't want to freak him out. She didn't think he was there yet and she didn't want him to feel pressured to say it back. "I shouldn't have said that. I am in love with you, but I know that this stuff is hard for you, you don't have to say it back, or even feel it back, I promise I won't be upset if you're not there." She bit her lip, "But I'm not going to pretend like I'm not. I love you."
Maddox: was unable to come up with any real answer as well. Both times things had gone awry, it had been with items that Lilly assumed were from him. Items that could have been considered more than platonic in one way or another and it was just driving him up a wall. When Lilly began ragging on herself, he sighed softly. He wasn't stupid to think that Lilly was any of those things even if he spent a majority of his time insulting her whether it was playful or not. "You're a little whiney, but that shit is always fixable" He let out a chuckle but looked at her. "Lils, I don't know why the fuck this shit is happening but I fucking swear I ain't going to let nothing and I mean nothing happens to you" He nodded his head at her words but he couldn't help but think that it was, that of he was just a better person for her that Lilly wouldn't be going through any of this. It was when she spoke again that Maddox wasn't even sure how to respond. It was no longer a simple I love you, Lilly was in love with him and as shitty as it was, he wasn't sure he'd be able to say it back. Maddox knew he cared about Lilly that was more than certain, what he felt for her couldn't be compared with anyone else, but he wasn't good enough for her. Her sister thought so, hell even his own sister thought the same thing. Maddox wasn't deserving of the type of love that Lilly had to offer and for the first time he was actually hurt by that realization. Knowing that at the end of the day, he couldn't be who Lilly needed. "Lils..i--I can't" He said, almost defeated with his answer, as if it were just on the tip of him tongue, something he had wanted to say not even moments ago and now look at him. "Let's just focus on you right now, yeah? We're going to get to the bottom of all this" He said, pulling her close and kissing thus he told of her head, wondering to himself how it were possible to know you could love and only have it in your dreams
Lilly let out a soft laugh at his comment, frowning at him, but only teasingly. "Thanks for putting up with me in that case." she teased back, and then sighed when he continued. "I know." She whispered when he said he wouldn't let anything to her, because she did know. She knew that Maddox would do anything he could to take care of her, but he couldn't predict the future. He couldn't have known this would happen tonight, if he'd been there, he might not have been able to do anything. She had been lucky Maverick was there, but she'd still gotten hurt, even if it was minor. Lilly's frown turned more serious when he said he couldn't, though she made sure to smile as soon as she realized, and nodded. She'd expected that honestly, and truthfully, she didn't mind. Of course it would have been nice to hear it back, but she also knew Maddox, and she knew that something like that, it was a lot for him. When he said he wanted to focus on her, she nodded, giving him a soft kiss after he kissed her head, "It's okay, Maddox." she said softly, giving him a more genuine smile now. "If we're focusing on me, you have to tell me, how horrible do I look? Because I feel like I smashed my face on the corner of an oak coffee table, so I'm guessing I probably look just about as good as I feel." She said, letting out a small laugh.
Maddox: gave her the best grin that he could when she thanks him, even opting for a soft chuckle. "I mean, it's a tough fucking job but somebody has to do it" There was a playful wink and that was that, he pushed down the feeling of utter dread when she saw her more serious look and he would have done anything to change that, but he couldn't let Lilly think she was in love with someone who wasn't good enough for her. He wouldn't put her through that ridicule or backlash from her parents just because of his own selfish feelings, he just couldn't. But still, there was no denying the odd feeling that came over him when he saw the the drop of her smile and knew it was because of him and him alone. When she mentioned about how she looked, taking his mind away from other things, maddox let out a soft laugh and and leaned in pressing their lips together in a kiss that was soft, tender. "You look like the most beautiful girl in the fucking world and yes, I will fight anyone who says otherwise" He laughed, striking her cheek gentle. It was almost impossible not to feel this way, they always came back to each other without fail, it just so happens that this time around Maddox actually decided to give it a chance. To bad he learned it a little too late
Lilly tried to read him, wishing she could just hear his thoughts, figure out where his head was. He hadn't bolted when she said she loved him, that was something at least, and even if he hadn't said it back, he didn't seem horrified, that was more than she could ask for. She didn't care if he didn't feel the same, or if he did and couldn't say it, she felt it, she said it because she felt it, not because she expected anything in return. She wanted so badly to get in his head, and figure out exactly what he was feeling, just so she could tell him that it was okay, that she wasn't upset, that she was fine with wherever he was, but talking about emotions always made him uncomfortable. So she decided to drop it. Lilly couldn't help her smile when he laughed, it wasn't as if she was in a happy place, but at least he made her feel safe, and she couldn't help but feel a little better with him there with her. It wasn't an answer to her question, not really, but it certainly made her blush. She wanted to say something back, but she was distracted by the appearance of Em and Dena in the doorway to her room, causing her to sigh. She hadn't realized anyone else was here, though she should have, and by the look on Em's face, she knew it would be a long night of reassuring everyone that things were fine, and that this also probably meant a hell of a lot of explaining to her parents, who up to this point, didn't even know she had a stalker.

MAVERICK: To punch you in the face? Probably not, mainly because I fear the backlash of your sisters eating me alive. I can punch whoever caused this reaction out of you?
LILLY: That was a weird image. But I caused it in myself? So I guess we're back to you punching me in the face? Please and thank you.
