Ralph Ziman's The Casspir Project debut’s at The Rendon Gallery's off-site location at 1242 Palmetto St, LA 90013 tonight, February 7th, from 6 - 8 PM. Food from Azla Ethiopian Vegan and drinks by Angel City Brewery, Califia Farms, Blackened Whiskey, Infuse Spirits, and Topo Chico will be served.
The Casspir Project is a unique multidisciplinary, experiential exhibition that encompasses a variety of media including installation, film, photography, oral history, and documentary by South African born, Los Angeles-based artist and filmmaker Ralph Ziman.
For this iteration of The Casspir Project, Ziman has designed the massive gallery space with a “macro and micro” experience in mind. Each room within the 8 room gallery space brings context to the next, informing the project as whole. The exhibition moves through different artworks ranging from brightly colored AK-47s, photographs inspired by photojournalism during apartheid, to a 20 minute documentary, leading up to the dramatic presentation of SPOEK 1, the reclaimed Casspir, lit only by a spotlight in a dark room.
