No. Every cake is different. At least in America. You can say cake for a generalization, but most people will ask what type, yellow, white, chocolate, sponge, bunt, carrot, red velvet etc…

I've been writing a fic for literally ever. I feel like this could be a way to give me the motivation I need to finally finish my fic. A few chapters are already out on ao3, can I still apply for the bb if some of it is already published?

You can absolutely use your current WIP as your BB project. However, half the words must be entirely new and unseen for it to qualify. In other words, your fic can’t be already more than half done.
The currently published fic will also have to be taken down, along with any snippets you might’ve put up. Sorry! We want the BB to be where readers can enjoy your fic in full ;)
