Dempsey is rather ticklish. Richtofen takes full advantage of that. Just hearing the American’s laugh gives the doctor a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Dempsey is usually the big spoon. He sleeps better at night knowing that Richtofen is safe in his arms. He does feel safe in the doctor’s arms too.
When the burden he bears is getting to him, Richtofen tends to cry himself to sleep. Though he knows it’s to protect the rest of the team, it does drive a wedge between them.
Dempsey notices and pulls the German closer to him, kissing his forehead.
“It’s okay, Eddie. Let it out. You’re doing the best you can. You always have been.”
