It's my 13 year anniversary on Tumblr 😰

How's it going this evening? Happy to receive another one of these!

Again, the intense energy just throws you against the wall on this track. The tight chromatic movement in the melody makes a ton of dissonance in the verse and intro--along with some of the screamed lyrics. It's a very loud and intense way to ramp up the tension. While in "Undefeatable", we get a break a little sooner, but in this one, we have to wait until over halfway through the loop before things finally break open, both melodically and harmonically. In game, certain sections loop during different phases of the boss, which is perfect for this use case. The "don't look down" lyric reminds me of the Zebrahead version of "His World"--"watch your step, watch your step, don't fall". It's a Sonic song: you keep moving forward, no matter what it takes. No regrets, don't look back, trust yourself and forge ahead. These are hype songs for spectacle fights with enormous energy. It just works!

I'm picking the track from Sonic Frontiers most likely to be permanently etched into the ears of all speed runners and speed runners at heart. Yes, that would be Flowing, from the infamous Cyberspace stage 1-2.

Many moons ago, primesonic sent in his first ask to the blog, asking about my musical background. About a year and a half later, we got married, and have been together ever since! A heartwarming Tumblr love story indeed. 🥰

This is a favorite of mine--the title itself, "Flowing", really describes its whole vibe. I always like the always-in-motion sound of D&B style drums, and it fits well for the speed stages. The underlying synth with its repeating arpeggio also push the whole track forward. The vocals are beautiful and meld really well in the mix, a true instrument in the midst. The repetition in the lyrics as well helps that sense of flow too! I love how everything slowly drops out in the second part of the verse ("disappearing..."), giving it all some space, before a bassy, ripped synth leads us into the B section. And in the B section, the lead synth could have been four long held notes, but instead, they're all chopped up. It's to keep up that movement!

Somehow, I consider you responsible for this. 😏

I would LOVE to believe that I personally am I responsible for thousands of years of history culminating in a 12 year cycle conveniently landing on an animal resembling a cow right when we need some wholesomeness

But alas, I am simply an appreciative beneficiary of this lovely theme.

What I couldn’t anticipate though is the sheer volume. Artists seem really excited to get their cowprint bikini art out into the world, moreso than they were for rat last year, and there’s so much good stuff with all kinds of variety.

Okay this is actually both a super hard and easy question because I actually love so many different characters in Arknights so much, but ultimately I just gotta go with my most simple and unquestioning instinct

It’s these two. Zima and Frostleaf. The axe girls. The cool fighter girls. The music loving loners that are actually ride-or-die loyal for their teams and their followers. Snarky and sarcastic and don’t take shit from other people but are actually kind and considerate. That’s the kind of girl I LIKE. I love them both to bits and they have such cool god damn designs I can’t get over it. This is true valid axe rep, their weapons look so damn good.

Frostleaf also casts Ice arts, and frost magic is my favourite element. Zima is also reminiscent of Ryuko from KLK and obviously I love the hell out of her. AND THEY’RE BOTH HELLA GAY. NUFF SAID.
