Happy World Oceans Day! Oceans impact our weather, are home to marine life, provide us with food, and are a place to work and play for millions. Be a good steward of our oceans by recycling and properly disposing of trash, not releasing balloons, safely disposing of fishing lines, and volunteering for clean up days at beaches and wetlands. With everyone working towards cleaner and more sustainable oceans, we'll be as happy as a horseshoe crab on the beach at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. Bald Eagle Sighting
Sitting at Turkle Pond, Prime Hook. Getting “Mellow” listening to some smooth jazz, taking a random video when a bird coming into frame. Turned out to be a bald eagle. Put the phone down and got the binoculars out. The eagle flew then perched in a tree for a minute, Then swooped down to the water to grab a fish... so cool to see. Wish i had the right equipment...
Hard to see on small screen. Eagle enter above treeline on Left...
By the way the music in the video is Hank Mobley’s The Good Life

Day 14: Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute
As promised, here's my blog about my day with MERR.
Firstly, our training seminar was delayed due to the discovery of a stranded loggerhead sea turtle somewhere (sadly, it was dead.) Killed by what appeared to be dredging, the loggerhead was a large adult male. What a waste of this beautiful, endangered animal.
This MERR training session also allowed me to meet Rob and his family, as described in my previous post. See that post for more about that!!
Finally, I got to see the wonderful area that is the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge. What a beautiful, serene area for all sorts of birds, mammals and fish! Pictures to follow :]
I'm especially excited to get my first call for a rescue, stranding or necropsy of a deceased animal. I'm so eager to learn from my fellow volunteers and from the animals.
